Berlin Hotel

It was a great pleasure staying at the Hotel Berlin. Perfectly located in Downtown Cairo the hotel is a real oasis and a gem. But, what is truly exceptional are the people working where whose kindness, warmth and benevolence is simply exceptional and extraordinary. For many reasons staying at this hotel is very emotional and brings a touch of the beautiful old world charm and hospitality! Keep up the good work. Highly recommended to the real travellers who know how to appreciate special places.

Everything was perfect!

The room was large with high ceilings and very clean and tidy. There was a small table and chairs, and an armoire to hang clothes if necessary. The bathroom was outside in the hallway, and it was very clean and there was plenty of hot water. The young man who checked me in and the lady who were on duty during my stay were very kind and helpful. I arrived early in the morning after a long overnight bus ride from Luxor and the proprietor and staff allowed me to check in early, and even showed me options of rooms for me to choose from, so I didn't have to lug around my luggage through the city until normal check in hours later in the day, so I was very grateful for that. The location downtown is central and not far from a couple of metro stations.

The room didn't have a balcony as advertised, but this was ok as there were large windows with shudders that opened outward and allowed for a good view to the street below. The reservation came with breakfast. It was agreed that I would take mine early at 6:30 the next morning as I needed to get to the airport for an early flight. Unfortunately, it was not provided. Finally, the internet was somewhat spotty in the room. But these were all minor issues and overall the hotel is charming, the proprietor and staff were welcoming, so ultimately it was great value.

This is a simple hotel, but superb value. It's on a lively street in downtown Cairo. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Manager Hashemi organised great day trips and airport transfers with a marvellous driver. Simple Egyptian breakfast of omelette, flatbread, cheese and jam.

The room was large and had a balcony, but lacking toilet or sink. The bathrooms were outside the room, but the room price was so reasonable, I couldn't really complain.

Staff is helpful and friendly.

Private Shower and communal toilet are dirty (as is the floor in the room). On the last day I saw cockroaches!
