I wanted so much to be impressed with this place as I have been in for a drink from time to time and was looking forward to staying overnight, however, I'm afraid I was disappointed. Very much a case of 'over-priced and underwhelming'. The food was poor. I paid almost £20 for a cremated yorkshire pudding, a splash of watery gravy, three slices of shoe-leather beef and some reheated chips, all of which were barely warm. The following morning I spent £12 on a full English, which was pleasant enough and brought to my room, but didn't come with any tea or coffee and was no better than I could make at home. The accommodation was 'fine' but not clean enough for me. I had selected a disabled access room as I believed I would get larger room but was housed on the first floor (good job I don't have any restrictions) in the separate block away from the main Inn. The bin hadn't been emptied from the previous guest's stay and there was debris under the bed. There were clean towels etc. but the tiles in the shower were cracked and dirty and some of the blinds didn't work. The water from the tap was that hot that I couldn't use it and the shower was very difficult to operate. There were hairs in the corner of the bathroom and on the soap dispenser. None of these things were bad enough to cause me to complain there and then, but for the price I paid, I expected more. Definitely not a four star stay. Oh and I didn't get my lie in as someone had been sent to cut the grass right outside my room at 09.00. Might all sound petty but I expected a lot more for the cost of everything. In total spent £204 in less than 48 hours and came away less than impressed. Could be so much better.
