Great property, great location - 10 out of 10 would stay again.

We arrived late, in the dark, due to a late ferry. It was tricky finding parking and the hotel but when we did it was a great experience. The owner checked us in and gave us a ton of information. The room had absolutely everything you could want including a welcome bottle of wine and lovely fruit in the refrigerator. There was a tiny balcony. It was just a short walk to lots of restaurants and shops. We loved it here.

Wonderful stay in a beautiful town with the most caring possible host.

I loved my stay in Rethymno. My lodgings at Afrodite were beautiful and charming, and I really appreciated the comfortable bed, kitchen amenities and washing machine. But the best thing about staying at Afrodite is Yannis, the exceptionally kind and caring owner. He arranged a wonderful taxi driver, Stelios, to pick me up at the airport, met the taxi a few blocks away and carried my bags to the hotel, and brought me juice, fruit and a bottle of wine when I checked in. Later, when I had a medical concern, he accompanied me to the hospital and stayed there until I was seen by the doctors. Yannis exemplifies the Cretan virtue of "filoxenia."

Outstanding Customer Service and Location !

The host was very helpful in arranging parking and advice on local restaurants and historical sites in the area. The apartment was huge and had a nice outside porch to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening or a cup of coffee in the morning. Our apartment also had a nice peek-a-boo ocean view. The kitchen was fully loaded with lots of extra accoutrements. We needed nothing = The host has been in the business a long time and knows all about customer service and satisfaction ! Over-all an excellent stay !

This is an almost 200 year old building which I believe was formally a Russian and then French Embassy. Being an old conversion from meeting rooms to apartments it definitely has its share of quirkiness. Not sure about the other rooms = but our bathroom was definitely overdue for a needed refresh/renovation.

Old World Charm

Don't expect sleek and modern style, but the room is large, clean, and with all the amenities. Great location. Large bathroom, completely enclosed shower. Comfortable bed. Good communications with host. Elevator from ground floor. Yannis was on the main street waiting for us at our check-in time. This was very helpful as we would have missed the cross street where Afroditi is located. Look for the 'Trap Barber Shop' sign and barber pole as the landmark for where to turn. Maps and lots of information about the area provided by Yannis. Water, wine, juice, fruit in room, and 'thank-you' gifts were an added bonus.

Even with deterrents, mosquitoes still get in the room. Screens are not that common in Europe, especially on older buildings. Expect some street noise. Balcony quite small but nice to let in fresh air.

Central apartment to Rethymno town, waterfront, beach, bars and shopping! Incredibly kind host, beautiful room, clean and comfortable with everything you could need! Has laundry with supplies, so many gifts from our host, wine, fruit, water, toiletries, and departing souvenirs as well! Just can’t say enough good things - will stay here every-time we return to Rethymno!!

Fantastic stay, thoughtful gifts, spotless room, wonderful host.

When we arrived at Afroditi in Rethymno, we were greeted by Yannis, a truly lovely man who could not do enough for us. At reception, he told us all about the history of the town, the churches, and recommended some excellent restaurants. Our room was spotless, in a traditional Greek style, and Yannis had kindly left us gifts: large bottles of water, a fridge full of fresh fruit, and even a free bottle of wine. The facilities were outstanding – fresh towels daily, free air conditioning, a free safe, a washing machine, kettle, coffee maker, sandwich toaster, hair dryer, and even hair straighteners (a first for us in a hotel!). Every morning Yannis greeted us with a warm “kaliméra – Good Morning” and a big smile. On our last day, he even invited us out for drinks, which was such a thoughtful gesture. The hotel’s location is ideal – right in the centre of the Old Town, close to shops, bars, and restaurants, and only a 10-minute walk to the beach. If you’re looking for a very welcoming, traditional Greek hotel, I would definitely recommend Afroditi.

Everything was perfect especially our host Mr Yiannis, our second stay here, he is so hospitable and attentive to all our needs, he is the most pleasant person you could ever meet, supplying water and fruit every day and gave us some souvenirs when we were leaving, the location of the apartment is in a prime position, close to everything, restaurants, cafes, shops, bars, the beach etc, thank you Mr Yiannis for another perfect stay, we will return, this is the place we will continue coming to.

We were very happy with our stay! The host was extremely caring and hospitable. He even called us to check how we were doing, left the fridge full of fruit and water, and gave us some nice details when we checked out – and we were only staying for one night! He was very thoughtful: the bathroom had shampoo, shower gel, and other essentials. He also recommended a place for dinner and even called to book the table for us. We highly recommend staying here!

Fantastic location, nice room and the best host.

Perfect location near the beach, restaurants, and shops. Comfortable room with nice beds. But, the best was the host Yannis. We were given great recommendations and excellent service. He even gave us some souvenir gifts. When it was time to go he walked us to get a taxi and insisted on staying until we were loaded up and ready to go.

Wonderful stay at Afroditi - we would definitely come back!

Our stay at Afroditi was absolutely fantastic. We were greeted on arrival by Yannis who helped us find the car park and even took our luggage for us. He gave us lots of recommendations of things to do and then showed us to our room which was lovely and had absolutely everything you could need. The fridge was full of fruit and we got drinks on arrival. We were also given gifts when we left! We cannot recommend this place enough if you are visiting Rethymno and we would definitely come back. Don’t hesitate to book!

WOW - Look no further. We Loved this place, the location, the room and the amazing service. Yannis made our holiday extra special. The added extras and souvenirs were so very surprising and a lovely touch. We were 5 females and each one of us could not believe how special and comfortable he made us feel. . What a gem of a find! This charming hotel sits perfectly at the edge of the old town and the waterfront, giving you the best of both worlds. From the moment we arrived, Yannis—the wonderful owner—was there to greet us, help with parking and luggage, and make us feel right at home. His warmth and generosity really stood out, and his tips for dining and sightseeing were spot-on. With beaches, markets, and restaurants all within an easy stroll, the location couldn’t have been better. Our second-floor studio , reached by elevator)far exceeded expectations. Spacious, spotless, and thoughtfully equipped, it felt more like a home than a hotel. The kitchen came fully stocked, with a large fridge ready for whatever goodies we brought back, and we were welcomed with champagne and fresh fruit—a classy touch! The bathroom was roomy too, with the bonus of a washing machine, detergent, and even a drying rack on the balcony (so handy for a longer stay). The bed and pillows? Heavenly. We slept like rocks every night. All in all, this hotel combines comfort, convenience, and genuine hospitality in a way that’s hard to beat

This is where you need to stay in Rethymno

Yannis is an exceptional host, his hospitality is next level. Was flexible with check in when our schedule changed, was eager to share his tremendous knowledge of the area and attractions with maps and explanations. The accommodations were beautiful and clean. Excellent host

We spent four nights at the Aphrodite Hotel, and everything was absolutely perfect. The location was ideal, and the room was very clean. The air conditioning worked flawlessly. What really stood out, though, was the host’s exceptional hospitality. When we received the last-minute news that our ferry had been cancelled, the host went above and beyond to assist us. He arranged transportation to another city so we could catch a ferry the next morning, ensuring we were well taken care of. Truly appreciated the extra effort!

A gem in the old town, with warm welcome and perfect location !

The hotel is high class with full complete equipment, clean and cozy. The hotel is situated in the old town, at a walking distance both to the beautiful old town, the venitian port and the beach. Excellent and warm welcome by Yannis, who was very generous with little welcome gifts, his time and recommendations. The hotel has a very practical arrangement with the port's parking, giving access to free parking. A warm recommendation for this hotel!

Incredible!

Afroditi is one of the best places to stay in Rethymno’s old town. Extremely close to taverns & bars as well as boutique shops for jewellery & souvenirs. Not only that, Yannis, the owner is an incredibly generous & kind man who was always so helpful and friendly to us. The apartment was very clean & had a traditional feel to it. It was equipped with air conditioning, a washer + general expected amenities and had a balcony which posed a beautiful view of the old town.

Lovely host and apartment, at a great price, in a super location.

We had an amazing time staying at the Aphrodite. Our apartment was great, more than enough room, and our host had gone to the trouble of putting some food and beverages in the kitchen for us, which was very thoughtful. We want to return

First of all, Yannis, a super host. He went beyond himself to make our stay comfortable. He organised a taxi for us from the AirPort and met us when we arrived fairly late, because the taxi were not allowed to drive all the way to the hotel. And when we, on leaving, insisted on walking to the bus station, he had us brought there in his own car. In the apartment we were met by wine and fruit and water and slippers. The apartment has everything you need, well equipped, with a washing/drying machine as an extra bonus. Cleaned every Day, but not to early (as we asked). We loved the position of the apartment, in front of a church and a small square. Rethymno is a really nice town. We hope to come back. To Yannis, you’re a pearl.

Nothing really. A fairly big veranda, with comfortable chairs. But we would have liked to have some kind of sun protection (parasol?). When we stayed there, it was really hot weather, and we couldn’t use the veranda during day time because of the sun.

Perfect stay, you get city, restaurants and beach in one place with the most friendly staff alaround

This is by far the best stay ever for us, we travelled with our 2 teenagers, and got full value on our holiday. The apartment location is perfect, just between shopping, restaurants and 600m to the beach, which is full of activities. The appartement is just above a church and a big square and there for an open view and very quiet in the night. Service was totally outstanding. The fridge was filled up with wine, beer, fruit, water, juice upon arrival and was re-filled during our stay. Jannis was the perfect host for a hotel, I wish I meet him everywhere I stayed.

One of the best hotels I visited in Crete, from the readiness of the kitchen with juice, fruits and water to your personal laundry machine. The room was well furnished with dining table, double bed and a well designed kitchen for all cooking needs. It felt like my own personal apartment unit with all inclusive necessities provided. I definitely recommend Afroditi hotel for anyone visiting Rethymno. The owner-Yannis- and staff were delightful to speak with and carry a good conversation. Amazing location firstly! In the center of the old town, right next to the boulevard. Yannis was very helpful with recommendations and made sure that we had a parking spot in the nearest parking place. The room (junior suite with garden view) was lovely, authentic and very spacious. The bed was comfortable and big too, which is not always a given in Crete. Yannis welcomed us with local wine, fresh fruit and cold water, which was very amazing after a long day of traveling! We were able to store our bags after check out and Yannis even gave us some souvenirs to take home.
