The Derby Conference Centre and Hotel

The room was sufficient for what we needed. The staff were great and the breakfast was very good.

We were advised on arrival that the bar and restaurant were unavailable on the evening of our stay, as there was a private function at the venue, and that if we required any food or drinks we would have to use room service. The room we had, while adequate for an overnight stay, was certainly not suited to use for dining in. This information should have been made available when I made the booking as, had it been, I would have chosen to stay elsewhere. The only 2 local eateries were both around a 15 minute walk away from the Conference centre. We tried both, as we did not relish the idea of staying in the hotel room the whole evening and the first one we tried was a so called gastro pub called The Coronation. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. It's basically a local pub in a fairly run down suburb and they only serve food until 7 o'clock. The next place,The Merlin, which was then a 25 minute walk in the opposite direction was a 'Hungry Horse' pub/restaurant and was much better than the first.

Perfectly fine stay. Plenty of parking. Shower was hot with good pressure. Spacious bathroom. Fast wifi. Staff were friendly. Skylink buses just outside the hotel so it was easy to get to Download Festival and back.

Mattress was very uncomfortable. Overpriced for the quality, size and cleanliness of the hotel room. Needs a good renovation. Shower was tiny, lots of people would struggle to fit in it. Thin walls so not particularly quiet.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, parking was great.
