Excellent start to the day when attending a conference.

I was attending a conference there and it saved getting up very early to stay there the night before. Absolutely no regrets. It is easily reached on public transport. The building is a fascinating art deco building which previously had been used for courses on rail engineering. Helpful staff and good food provided (that includes the conference). Plenty provided for breakfast.

My knees are not great and the front steps were awkward! But everything else positive!

Helpful staff but average accommodations

Location

Poor quality shower - limited water flow and inability to change temperature- shower to hot. Also poor quality pillow - had to ask for a second one because pillow provided was so flat it provided little head and neck support.

The hotel was situated close to where we were going.

The room was very small and was not clean with dirt on the blinds and furniture. The bed was uncomfortable and due to the size of the room it was pushed against the wall.

Lovely functional work venue with amazing staff on site

Lots of parking on site, the room was spotless and very warm and cosy. The staff at this venue are phenomenal. Nothing is too much trouble for them, they go above and beyond every single moment of the day.

It was difficult to find hotel reception in the dark and the rooms are quite basic but functional.

Convenient hotel if you are going to Derby football ground

Hotel is well situated for Derby football matches (about 20 minutes walk) and around 30 minutes walk to city centre. Stay here if you are going to the football as parking is easy and gives you the opportunity for a night out in Derby also, all at a reasonable price. Rooms are very basic, but that is reflected in the price paid.

Fantastic Building, location & setting. A+ A+

A gorgeous Grade2 listed building originally built as a training centre for Railway staff. The Art Deco interior is also wonderful with a ‘sunken Ballroom’ makes it an ideal venue for Company Christmas parties, Weddings etc. plenty of parking available and a bus stop right outside to take you into Derby City Centre. Also very close to Pride Park which is only a short walk away. All Staff were brilliant too & so helpful

Loud music untill late at night despite staff placing me as far away as possible and loud noise from police sirens outside of building. Lighting in room was very cold / bright and could have used a softer more cozy option. Mattress felt like it was last the point of replacement due to being very soft

Avoid if you don't want to be kept awake by thumping music

The breakfast was pretty good and the restuarant was clean

The room was very tired, the double bed was small and the music from the function downstairs was thumping away and kept us awake till well past midnight.

Worst choice of accom for the last 7 years - preferred some of my COVID hotels to this!

My sympathies were with the young lady on the reception desk on the evening of check in - she was exceptional given all the situations she was encountering

Where to start - access to parking, signage is woefully difficult to read in the dark and a very narrow access to car park C which was 2 way was not particularly easy to access and this ended up in a telephone call as the "hotel" access was not easily identified (it is in fact the same as access to the convention centre building). The receptionist was helpful, identified the car and made sensible suggestion regarding where to park (see comment above). Check in was fine but accessing the bedroom fire alarm intermittently going off (no reason given at check in - no nap then). Not having heating is not a problem for me as I carry suitable equipment to keep warm but no lighting other than the main light is definitely an issue. Receptionist was in the corridor attempting to thaw out some of the other guests - I asked if she had a bulb, no lets change your room. Well it was certainly waarm and the booster went all night - very noisy and definitely not restive. Restaurant - self service and hassle between each order (drink, then main course on cold plate - "can you pay now"?), din't bother with a pudding or another drink. GDPR issue on TV apps. Morning beckons - went down to breakfast - cold plates at 7:15am - not unusual but cold salamanders with congealing food - definately an issue, when this was pointed out by another diner and then me backing the diner up there was no immediate response and during my toast consumption food was still left out. Coffee machine ropey and lids falling into coffee cup.

Good value

The location was ok for our needs as we were looking for a place close to Pride Park stadium. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was fine. The bar was well stocked and comfortable. We didn't eat there but the food looked good

Disappointing

Sockets by bed, comfortable bed. Plenty of free parking.

'Premier' rooms up 3 floors with no lift. Had to downgrade to find a room that wasn't noisy, stained carpet or scratched furniture. Shower whilst hot was small. Bathroom tap scalding hot. Staff helpful and friendly but wouldn't come again.

A very busy venue, very noisy.

The location was great, very close to where I was working for the weekend.

The room (11) was at the front of the property above the main door so you hear everyone coming and going. There was an event on that finished at 11 I'm assuming, but people were out the front singing and shouting until 1am. People seemed to keep arriving through the night as it was so noisy. Not an ideal hotel if you're working and need a good night's sleep. Breakfast was quite basic, not worth £10. Better off bringing something small and buying a coffee somewhere. Decor reminded me of uni dorm rooms. Not all the plug sockets worked in the room and the carpet was visibly dirty and old.

This is such a gem, amazing sense of history. Beautiful, calm and comfortable accommodation with really friendly and solicitous staff. Great Wifi for video conferencing. Short walk to the railway station. Perfect. I never consider staying anywhere else in the Derby area.

Amazing staff who go above and beyond

The room was lovely, clean and a decent size, the bathroom was much bigger than I'd expected too. But without doubt it was the staff that made my stay so good. The lady from reception came and knocked on my door on the Saturday evening to say my car hazard lights were flashing. I went out to see why and turn them off, but somehow my battery was flat. I cant remember the ladies name from reception but she honestly couldnt have helped me more. She checked the cctv cameras and thankfully didnt spot anything untoward having happened to my car, I asked her if there was anyone who could help me jump-start my car - I had leads with me and had work early the next day, I said not a problem if not, as I would just call the AA, but she said definitely there would be someone in at 7am the next day. I went back out to my car just to try again, when a couple of minutes later, the receptionist came to my car with one of the other members of staff, and he helped to jump start my car right there and then. Honestly, it was such a relief, and they didn't have to help me as clearly jump starting cars is not in their job description but as a young girl on her own, I was so glad they took the time and effort to help me. Even with a big event taking place on the same evening. I felt really safe and looked after, and I will definitely book to stay here again.
