Havre de paix en plein centre de la rochelle ! L'emplacement est idéal et surtout sécurisé. Un vrai plus pour nous qui sommes venus en voiture avec nos vélos. Le logement est très bien équipé et décoré avec goût. Les hôtes sont très gentils et discrets. Nous avons passé une excellente semaine malgré le passage d'une mini tempête !

I always start these by saying that its our experience and there is is no prejudice or bias in what is said just how we experinced it. Communication prior to arrival was problematic since it was through Booking.com hence only online and for a 2pm arrival to be confirmed. The 2 voicemails I left 2 hours before arrival confirming 2pm were mistaken for spam - really !!, likely due to the UK dialling code, and I received no reply to my calls, which left me waiting on arrival. The property has both positive and negative aspects. On the positive side, the location is convenient, parking is very secure, and the setting is generally quiet, which adds to the sense of safety and relaxation. Conclusion: While La Maison du Gardien offers a good location, very safe parking, and a generally quiet environment, the lack of cleanliness, limited natural light, uninviting outdoor spaces, and occasional disturbances significantly reduced the overall enjoyment of the stay.

However, several issues affected the quality of the stay. The interior of the house is quite dark and required artificial lighting throughout the day. On 18/09, the only natural light was a brief 20 minutes of sunshine at 17:00 by the front door. The patio area was damp, poorly maintained, and not suitable for use. Cleanliness inside was also below standard, with sticky kitchen surfaces, and the presence of midges and mosquitoes made the outdoor space unusable. This was also true for some periods indoors Additional disturbances included the owner’s dog’s constant demand for attention (scratching on the front door), as well as lawn mowing on Thursday afternoon and leaf blowing on Friday, which interrupted the otherwise quiet atmosphere.
