Location was great with views and access to the beach. All beds were too soft.

First of all, I reviewed before but it wasn't posted, as it wasn't a positive review. On a positive note the view was great! Kitchen amenities good. Beds were very soft. Hard on backs. Lower level guest had to go buy a blow up mattress. Initial arrival, garbage was overflowing and spilled onto ground. Management was responsive and cleaned up within an hour. Several deck chairs were rusted through. One broke on initial use. Master bath toilet had a sign 'hold handle down to flush'. Really? fix the pluming. Place was obviously neglected for repairs that would have made the stay much more enjoyable and worth the money. Not so at this point. Second bedroom shower also had a sign to "close shower door and point the shower head to the right', again, really? Dishwasher filter was filthy. Full of other guests food. I'm sure there are much better places for the money but we booked last minute.. Won't book here again. See if this get's posted.?

Overall our stay was great and we enjoyed the views despite the continuous rain (normal for the Oregon Coast at this time of year).Two pieces of feedback from all of us- 1) Time to upgrade the pillows. We all wished we would have packed our own as the pillows are old and very flat in every room. 2) Would have been nice to have either (or both) tinfoil or plastic wrap available in the kitchen.

This is a lovely house for a group. 2 bedrooms up with 2 baths. Sleeping for 5 down below (kids or teens best). Plenty of room on the deck for everyone. Room for all 6 of us to six comfortably in the living room overlooking the view. The only issue was that the refrigerator broke before we arrived. It was replaced with a different one in the same room. The only downside was no ice maker. Otherwise, it was a comfortable, roomy house.

Fantastic view of the water. Nice location in a part of the Oregon coast we haven’t seen much of. House is nice set up with kids’ room in the basement and two nice sized bedrooms upstairs. Lovely large living room and kitchen with good dining space. Never did find the way down to the beach, so ask ahead, but we were here in winter and it was raining anyway. Exceptional - will definitely stay again

Captain Jack's was perfect for our group - I brought three of my grandkids, ages 17, 12 and 8. There were plenty of beds and bathrooms for all. The location to the beach (a short walk) was perfect for them - they went back and forth often. We cooked a few meals in and the kitchen was very well-equipped. Everything we needed. Everything at the house worked as expected and we very much enjoyed the location and our stay!

We stayed here for several days for a family gathering. The house is older, but well kept. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking simple meals. We had a couple small maintenance issues, but they were very responsive and offered to fix anything same day. The basement bunk room isn’t the most inviting space, but offered the extra beds we needed. Overall, the house suited our needs, has a beautiful view, and we were happily with the responsiveness of the rental company. Close to Newport so very convenient. Would stay here again.

We had a beautiful view and a comfortable stay. We had a small issue with the TV but the property management company was able to remedy the problem same day! I would recommend that they get some sort of disinfectant schedule for the dishwasher, we needed to run several clean cycles and physically clean out the filter to ensure it worked properly and was clean of mildew. I understand it's hard to do in a humid environment, but we did put some time into taking care of us so we didn't need to wash by hand. Aside from two minorish issues, we had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend!

Captain Jack's is a comfortable home with an incredible view. We had a week of relaxing coastal enjoyment and the house, although in need of a little updating, was very nice. A few things need to be noted: the sliding glass door to the deck is almost impossible to open and shut; the 3 plastic deck chairs are pretty flimsy and need replaced; the leather couches are getting pretty worn down; and although a bbq is noted, the one provided is unusable. It's small and rusted out. Still despite those items we enjoyed our time. Meredith Lodging was very prompt and helpful with our inquiries.

I choose the house to see sunset on the beach. That happened. House had everything we needed. Well taken care of. It smelled good even. Plenty of towels. Beds were comfortable. Path down to the beach. I’d stay again.
