Casa Caravino

We did a 6 week trip throughout multiple countries in Europe, but this 3 night stay was by far our favorite of the entire trip. The host, Zdenka was so kind and extremely accommodating. There is a pretty far uphill walk from the town, but when available, Zdenka would pick us up with her car. The views were absolutely stunning and even though we had a bit of bad weather and rain during our stay, it is something I will never forget. The apartment and rooms are quite spacious with a nice kitchen. Zdenka even filled the kitchen up with some delicious local food and snacks which was perfect for when we spent the day in the apartment watching the rain over the lake. I can’t wait to come back again in the future! Thank you for an amazing stay!

There is a long uphill walk (30+ minutes from town and 10 minutes from the parking lot) which was fine for us but could be difficult for some. Every afternoon when we would finish the day, Zdenka would pick us up from the town as to not have to walk the entire way which was super kind of her.

I had an amazing stay at Casa Caravino, the apartment is beautiful and the view of the lake is incredible. The host was so helpful and kind, she always offered to give me a lift and was very helpful answering all my questions about getting to Varenna as the trains were not running. I would 100% stay here again!

There’s an uphill walk to get to the apartment, which may be difficult for some people, but it’s so worth it for the views.

Where do I start with Casa Caravino, this place is absolutely beautiful and gives you one of the best views of the lake from Varenna. The courtyard is a lovely place to wind down, we ate breakfast there every morning (fresh eggs provided from Zdenka’s hens) and watched the sunset in the late evenings from the swing seat! The inside of the property is charming and clean, with a practical kitchen for cooking if you want to. Zdenka who owns the property was an amazing host to us, she really looked after us and made our trip ever so special. Such a caring soul who couldn’t do enough to help us with anything we needed, giving good suggestions of places to visit and restaurants to try! She picked us up from the ferry station and really made us feel at home during our stay! The apartment is in a small village that requires a steep walk up from varenna town centre and a rubble path along the mountain side to reach it, so if you have mobility issues maybe this isn’t for you. Zdenka offered us lifts to and from the town most of the time, which we kindly tried to turn down most of the time as we didn’t want to take advantage of her generosity! If you want to experience true Italian country side and the beauty of lake como then I fully recommend this place to stay! We were very sad to be leaving but left feeling grateful to have had the chance to experience something so special at Casa Caravino.

The views were incredible over the lakes. The property was comfortable, quiet, spacious and had everything I needed. Zdenka was the most wonderful host offering me lifts to the property whenever I wanted and recommended lots of things to do during my stay.
