Cwm Clyd - Carthouse

Absolutely beautiful location in Elan valley, we loved eating a meal in the setting sun on the outdoor tables with sheep all around. Big kitchen with decent cooking equipment.

The key collection was confusing as the info provide referred to a main barn but nothing is labelled that way - they mean the kitchen. The mattresses in the bunk room really need replacing they were not good, though the people in one of the other rooms said great mattresses in there. Bunks very squeaky too!

Wonderful peaceful Location, stunning views. Very nicely renovated building buildings.

The exact facilities were not quite clear from the listing, and this wasn’t a problem for us when we got there, but it might be for some. The driveway is very steep and manoeuvering a larger vehicle could be an issue, it was quite entertaining attempting to turn my VW van. Also, we booked “ whole building”, expecting this to be something like a room with two rooms off it, but it was actually individual two rooms each access from outside. Again, not a problem if you know that’s how it is, but the listing didn’t make that clear the listing also indicated that there was kitchen and toilet facilities, but this appeared to be part of our building when in fact it was a shared facility with the other building on site. This was only made clear after booking . As it happened, the other building had a large party in it, who were all very friendly, but the result was that we left them to the kitchen and only popped in and out for teas. As said, all of this was not a problem as such, just unexpected and it may be better to make this clear in the listing as it may not work as well for others.

Very basic, pillows poor quality.
