About this farm stay rental
Come slow down and savour life. This 5500 sq.ft. charming farm house offers an oasis of natural beauty in the heart of Vancouver Island's Cowichan Valley. Nestled amongst a forest of breezy pines on 74 acres of active farmland, this home boasts a beautiful great room with sun drenched pool areas and cozy covered verandas. Perfect for a gathering with some of your favourite people or for a retreat of your fancy. This space is all about playing with nature & creating lasting memories.
Wake up to the deer outside your window or say hello to the goats and horse next door. Go for a walk around our private lake and see if you can spot our resident otter. Grab a couple herbs from the garden and enjoy a good meal with your favourite people. Or take a stroll and see what you see! Can you spot the Kiwi tree?
Our home is well stocked with thoughtful touches to make your time here special. The space has 6 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, 3 fire places, a kitchen for the cook in you, outdoor grill, stand alone dining room, great room, media room, games room, heated salt water pool, outdoor fire place, 3 covered verandas and a colourful inner garden walk with ponded waterfall. Our 6th room is currently setup as an office with a desk, computer monitor and a double sized pullout sofa for a total accommodation of 12 people. We have a house wide stereo system that lets you connect to your favourite tunes, a pool & poker table for those later night hangs and a cozy theatre room for your favourite flicks. Or grab a yoga mat and get your stretch on near the pool - soak in the rays and take in the beauty that surrounds you.
Guests will have full access to the house with the exception of the garage, mechanical room and laundry room, though the laundry room can be made available for use upon request. Guests are welcome (and encouraged!) to explore the loop in the general vicinity of the home which includes a backyard area, a 2 acre lake, ample treed and walking areas with views of the surrounding hills, pastures and the animals. We will upon request do a tour of our farm which includes, blueberry field, garlic field, large greenhouse, chickens, horses & cows. We would request a signed waiver for the tour.
The Cowichan Valley is Canada's only Maritime Mediterranean Climatic Zone and is home to the warmest year round temperatures in the country. Explore the cute coast towns, local artisans, markets, wineries, golf courses, delicious restaurants and world renowned mountain biking that all live here. Our home is centrally located 45 from Nanaimo and Victoria alike and only 15 minutes from the Harbour Air float plane dock with direct access from YVR and downtown Vancouver. Hop on the ferry to Salt Spring for the day or get into the woods for a scenic hike. If you crave the waves like we do, Jordan River and Sombrio are less than 2 hours away.
