Salem Fish Guest House

Wonderful, atmospheric place with a very welcoming and attentive host who is always ready to help and can arrange a wide range of activities in the area. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the breakfast is very good, and the property is dog-friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it.

One small suggestion: please add a broom and dustpan to each room, as after going to the beach there is always a lot of sand in the room.

There isn’t much to see / do in ras al hadd Tea and coffee was served in old, marked jugs which was a bit off putting…

• Salem is a host that definitely goes out of his way to ensure you have a fantastic stay. He took us and four other guests in the evening to see local fishermen and the tuna they had caught, turtles swimming and bioluminescence in the ocean. • It was my birthday during the stay and he spontaneously took us out for smoothies and bought a birthday cake! This was very kind of him. • We wanted to walk to the pink beach after we checked in and Salem politely offered us a ride to the beach and gave us use of his beach hut, we then walked back before dinner which took 20-30 minutes. • The dinner was absolutely fantastic and very delicious. It is communal with other guests which we very much enjoyed. • Salem has a pet cat who was very cute and we loved playing with her. The design of his gardens is stunning and he has collected many things over the years that is worth exploring.

• The bathroom did omit a bad smell for most of the stay and the shower basin did not clear of water when finished, which is where I think the smell came from. • The A/C in the room is loud but is perfectly fine if you turn it to ‘LOW’, we slept fine with it turned on. • The main issue we had was Salem’s two staff members. They were unapproachable and simply ignored my girlfriend when she spoke to them on two occasions. Also, check out was stated to be 12pm midday. Salem had taken other guests out for a boat ride and we opted to sleep in the morning. At 10am one worker very loudly banged on our door and tried to enter, then told us we had to leave by 11am. This was no fault of Salem and we were very happy with him in general.
