A nice hotel which I would recommend

room was comfortable& breakfast room & food excellent. Very nice location & would appeal to tourists especially Americans as it is a very old building on the water's edge.

The price on the internet was less than the price I actually paid for the room. There was very limited parking on a very narrow lane with no turning area. That is no fault of the hotel.

Great for many reasons - perfect for those wanting to break a long journey to or from the South West

Called and stayed to break the 7 hour journey home from Cornwall. Very easy to get to coming off the M5 and joining the M50 for a very short time. We visit Cornwall at least once a year and in recent years started to break the journey home. Have looked for a location that is easy to get to whilst not being too much of a diversion from the motorway. This place really could not be better for that reason alone. Lovely town with a lot going on. The Swan Hotel was very nice. The room we stayed in was enormous. Staff were very helpful. Locals seemed very chatty and friendly. Had one of the best breakfasts ever. Dog friendly and nice places to walk. I should certainly want to go back. I could imagine it being very pretty during the summer and very cosy during the winter.

Worked well for us on a one night stay.

Well looked after by the staff. Room at top of building very low ceiling level, as I am not very tall this was first time I have ever had to duck down to avoid a beam. Not a problem to us but could be an issue to people taller than myself. View from windows down the River Severn pretty spectacular.

Could have done with info in room re things like breakfast times and details of meal menus.

Parking was difficult - none available on street nearby probably as it was a busy Friday late afternoon on a sunny day - had to pay to park on car park five minutes walk away

Not very good at all

It was old & by the river

It was, hot, bed too low & not comfy, shower was way to small to shower properly. Bit dusty but it was more the smell. The guy who booked us in was friendly but the guy on the bar was rude. I got stung by a wasp as we were sat near a window, we then realised there were loads in the window. All we got when we told the staff was sorry, & the other wasps were left & because of being stung couldn’t finish our meal properly, which was well over priced for what we had. There didn’t seem to be any older staff just young staff until the following morning at breakfast, the lady was lovely & friendly. Breakfast was very nice but we had to ask for fruit juice & we only got one cup of coffee each.

Homely hotel on great river location

Have stayed at The Swan Hotel before. Staff friendly. Great location. Room No. 4 was comfortable, modern bathroom. Breakfast was a large full English Breakfast. Very nice. Parking can be a bit iffy, but Owner Luke very helpful in that respect. Would recommend.

Advised staff Room 4 could do with full length mirror so you can check yourself before exiting room.

Good location but a couple of hitches

Good location - next to river with close access to town. Clean, freshly decorated room with large en-suite bathroom.

A very hot day but the heating pipes in the room were radiating out a lot of heat and we couldn't turn them off. We did mention this to the person on Reception who just said it would go off at some point. Also no food due to a problem in the kitchen, and there weren't many places open in town for alternatives.

Lovely relaxing stay in an amazing room with a fantastic bath !!!!

We booked the suite on the top floor and it was amazing !!!!! The bath was an amazing bonus !!!! The room was so clean apart from a dead spider which we got rid of. There was no hairdryer which was an issue for my girlfriend and if I’m being picky , some biscuits with the teas and coffees would have been nice , but really can’t complain , amazing place and so peaceful and quiet

It was a bit warm , thank god for the fan in the room , but you’d expect it to be warm on the top floor .

Very pleasant indeed. We could not have asked for more.

The room had everything we needed and it was clean. The stall were very friendly and extremely helpful. It is clearly an old pub, but the location for us was perfect. All in all, it is a lovely place.

'In staffs words ' there's much misinformation that still needs correcting on our hotel booking sites' Lock on room jammed me in. No number in room to ring reception for help, main hotel number was on voicemail only, had to wait for passerby to call out window to find staff to sort door. Staff were just about to call police as couldn't get it open, when it happened to free up.. Staff were very curious about the door lock utterly dismissive of us.

Very much a pub with rooms but room was clean, staff were helpful and food in bar was good. The view of the river and boats going by was lovely.

A comfy hotel in an idyllic location.

The breakfast was tasty and satisfying. The location by the river was fabulous and the beautiful view from our room one of the best we've experienced.

The welcome at reception was a bit underwhelming. To be fair, we understand the staff member was part time and still learning. The bathroom door would not shut properly and needs planing or sanding along the top. Rain-type showers are very trendy nowadays but cubicles never seem capable of preventing water splashing out on to the floor. Our window boxes needed some tlc: fresh plants and some weeding.

Waited for dinner with 'we are short of a shed, not taking any orders for 45mins' Poor breakfast, no orange, continental choice, not what I expected The staff seemed to have no manager, later and unorganized

Enjoyed our stay. Good location overlooking the river, Nice inside bar/restaurant and seating outside. Comfortable room with very nice bathroom. Friendly staff and tasty food. Had lunch, dinner and breakfast and it was good value for money. The dog also enjoyed his stay.

No car park. Parked in a car park about 5 minute walk away (not a problem for us). £2 for 4 hours and £2 for overnight (4pm til 8am)

Good location for Severn Way walking.

Stayed here for walk along Severn Way (Tewkesbury to Upton) so in perfect location. Free on street parking very limited next to hotel but we were lucky enough to get a place. There is a 24hr car park nearby. Room was spacious and comfortable. Staff very friendly. We stayed on a room only basis so can't comment on breakfast but evening meal was excellent.

Enjoyable stay in lovely Upton upon Severn.

Young staff efficient and friendly; good fish & chips but menu rather limited; en-suite room recently refurbished - could do with a stool/chair in the bathroom although luckily I can still touch my toes (to dry them).

The woman, who appeared to be in charge, the following morning should try and be a little friendlier. It’s a shame that parking isn’t a little easier - street parking found about a 5 minute walk away.

The Swan was exceptional value for money in a stunning riverside location in this charming location. The staff were incredibly welcoming, the food was lovely and reasonably priced. The room with a river view was clean and very comfortable with a luxury feel ensuite.

Nothing - no car park but the staff gave up their roadside parking for me.
