About this house rental
The Whidbey House is a luxurious 1,850 SF, three-bedroom, two-bath handicap-accessible vacation home. Located in Freeland’s upscale Holmes Harbor neighborhood, it is close to trails and and not far from several beaches. Nestled against a large, forested tract, the Whidbey House feels like a quiet oasis. The backyard offers some of the best birding in Washington, and deer visit several times daily.
Whidbey House was built in a modern but comfortable Northwest bungalow style. The house is dominated by a luxurious great room that includes a fully equipped gourmet kitchen with granite counters, breakfast bar, and stainless appliances. High ceilings and big windows in all the rooms give the house a spacious feel.
Accommodations include three bedrooms and two baths. The five beds include a king in the luxury master suite and a queen in a second bedroom. he third bedroom has a twin bed accompanied by a pop-up twin trundle beneath it. And the room includes a cot-size sleeper chair too. The twin trundle can be raised to the height of the mating twin bed to create a king bed.
A Pack and Play portable crib is also provided. The king bed has a new, luxury Saatva mattress. The queen bed has a new pillowtop mattress.
Important amenities include high speed wifi, a high-definition Samsung smart TV, satellite TV, and an office area with PC and printer. Adjacent to the house is a modest fenced area with a patio, outdoor table, gas grill, and gas firepit. In addition, a covered front porch on the first floor offers a great place to relax and watch the world go by. The house has a high efficiency heat pump system for air conditioning and heating. A two-car garage behind the Whidbey House is entered from a private driveway. There is plenty of parking for six cars or for a 40-foot RV. There is a 30-amp electrical hookup, making the Whidbey House a great destination for RV or van owners.
Our home is designed for accessibility and safety for all guests, whether you're traveling with young children, managing mobility concerns, or simply appreciating an easy, step-free layout. Everything is on one level, with wide doorways and smooth, well-lit paths from your car to the entrance, including step-free access through both the kitchen and garage doors. Inside, you’ll find thoughtfully placed grab bars, comfort-height toilets, and, in the master bath, a walk-in shower. The tub-shower in the hall bath has added supports for safe entry and exit, which many parents find helpful when bathing kids.
Located only 15 minutes north of the Clinton-Mukilteo ferry terminal, the Whidbey House is ideally located for a perfect vacation, taking advantage of everything South Whidbey has to offer. During the day enjoy the natural environment and stimulating outdoor pursuits for which Whidbey is famous, including beachcombing, whale watching, hiking, fishing, biking, boating, kayaking, canoeing, and motorcycling–just to name a few. Then in the evenings take in the breweries, wineries, distilleries, restaurants, and shopping that fill the region around the quaint communities of Freeland and Langley. Or just relax at the Whidbey House and enjoy the sunset from the porch or rear patio as you watch the deer graze in the yard.
The house is within walking distance of a community beach and the Holmes Harbor Golf Course. Downtown Freeland is only a 5-minute drive. Further afield, Langley is 15 minutes away, and Coupeville is just 20 minutes. Many breweries, wineries, and distilleries are found within 5 to 10 minutes. For example, the excellent Holmes Harbor Cellars is only 1.5 miles distant, making for an easy biking or walking. excursion. Driving only 1.8 miles would bring you to the upscale Gordon’s on Blueberry Hill, offering harbor views, pasta, steak, and seafood.
Some nearby beaches include the Holmes Harbor community beach, (1.5 miles), Freeland Park (1.9 miles), Frank D. Robinson Beach (3.3 miles), Double Bluff County Park (5.3 miles), and Ledgewood Beach (10.4 miles). Not being a regular VRBO customer I was somewhat confused if I had properly done all the requirements to reserve our dates. Both Rick and Ann were quick to answer my concerns and assured me that all was well. Great patience! We found this home immaculate and welcoming. It was very spacious and had every convenience for our group of adults as well as for families with young children. The kitchen was very complete and easy for a group to prepare meals together. Location was close to to Langley, Coupeville and Port Townsend offering quaint shops and attractions. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer accommodation in spite of it not being on the water, or within viewing distance. We would love to stay here again.

We travel to Whidbey at least once a year to visit family. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is as described. We chose this house for its accessibility...my husband had a stroke last year and uses a walker. He was able to maneuver into the house (using the kitchen door) and throughout the house with no issues. He appreciated the ADA accessible master bathroom, and ADA friendly toilet. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, utensils, and spices. We were able to make meals as if we were in the comfort of our own home. We will stay here again if it is available for our next trip to the island.

We loved our stay in Freeland! The house was clean, comfortable and perfect for our family. It had everything we needed and was in a great location. We just wish that we could have stayed longer!

This was perfect. Rick and Anne were great to work with and communicate with. Only sorry we weren't able to enjoy their home longer.
