Apartamento fantástico, con unas vistas al mar preciosas desde la estupenda terraza. Es un lugar tranquilo (fui en la segunda quincena de septiembre) que es lo que yo buscaba. Algo apartado de comercios y restauración, por lo que necesitas el coche para moverte.

Nada, una tontería, necesitábamos una cafetera 'para españoles'.

I (David's wife) was really looking forward to staying here. The majority of the reviews on booking.com were enthusiastic. All of my online communication with Irma was positive; I appreciated her patience, promptness and kindness in answering my questions. Unfortunately the reality of the accommodation did not live up to my expectations. The first thing that “greeted” us was the toxic odor of insecticide, so strong that I could feel and taste it in my throat. I opened the doors immediately in an effort to eliminate it. Because there are no screens on any of the doors or windows, I was concerned about mosquitoes, so I contacted Irma about it; she suggested that I go to a store and purchase a Citronella bracelet, something which by experience I know is ineffective. As several people have noted, the furnishings are outdated (not charmingly "vintage"!), almost as if somebody stocked the place with cast-offs from an old house. The amenities are poor quality and limited; when I asked for extra laundry soap, I was told that the amount provided is considered a “courtesy”; when I pointed out that the amount provided was barely enough for 4 days, let alone the 8 days that we had paid for, we were provided with extra. The master bath is windowless, with no ventilation, and frankly dreary. No hooks for towels, clothing, etc. The second smaller bathroom has a shower cubicle that is of poor quality and is so tiny that I could barely move inside it. (I am 5’3” and weigh less than 100#.) The view from the master bedroom is shockingly lacking in aesthetic appeal; though you can indeed “see” the sea, the view is blocked by unconcealed cleaning equipment such as a hose, a few large plastic buckets, etc, a mop, etc. Fortunately, I was able to move some of the things to improve our view, but I would think the owner would want to take pride in their home. (See above review) One of our family members owns and manages an AirBnB; when I told them about our experience, they were surprised. “Skimping on small things like soap, detergent, toilet paper, etc. is not good business; and when a guest contacts us, we immediately accommodate them with whatever they need, without inferring to them that they may be overusing the item.” We have stayed at several beach resorts around the world; this particular accommodation did not compare, either in price, aesthetics, cleanliness, or amenities. This accommodation also did not compare to other accommodations of the same price and same location in Estepona, which we know because the rest of our family stayed in a lovely, up-to-date, beautifully appointed accommodation within a 2-minute walk from us. Also, as natives of California, where the beaches are wide and sandy (not narrow and pebbly) and accessible without navigating stairs, etc., we were disappointed in the beach itself. The sunrises and sunsets were beautiful, though! Do not even consider staying here if you do not have a car; taxi fares to and from Estepona are exorbitant, and even the closest market is not within walking distance, due to the busy highway making it impossible to cross safely. In fairness, perhaps we were expecting too much and perhaps our standards are too high.
