Palmetto Lodge

Our brief stay at this exceptional, luxurious bed-and-breakfast was truly memorable—a peaceful oasis with stunning forest and ocean views. Hosts Eva and Markus were warm, friendly, and helpful, from the initial communication when we made the reservation to the wonderful conversations we shared during our visit. The written description is accurate, and the many excellent reviews from previous guests are correct as well. We stayed in a separate casita that was very comfortable, beautifully decorated, thoughtfully equipped, clean, and quiet. As many guest reviews mention, the breakfasts are incredible, expertly prepared, and beautifully presented. It’s definitely on our list of places to stay again.

Our stay was far too brief

Eva's breakfasts were a delightful and healthy way to start each day. The facility itself was relaxing yet invigorating with a gorgeous view. The staff, led by edaniya, was friendly, efficient and helpful. The gardener even rinsed the dust off our car each morning!

Can't think of a thing!

Arriving at Palmetto Lodge was an adventure in itself. I was traveling through Central America by bicycle, and when I realized that the lodge sits beautifully on top of a hill, my first thought was: Oh no… this means pushing the bike. And yes, with all my luggage it was definitely not a ride-up situation but a push-up-the-hill workout. But the moment I arrived, everything changed. Palmetto Lodge felt like a small oasis after the climb — peaceful, beautiful, and incredibly welcoming. Markus and Eva have created a truly special place there. The atmosphere is relaxed, the surroundings are stunning, and you immediately feel that a lot of heart has gone into this lodge. They were also very helpful, even helping me organize a ride so I could go out for dinner in the evening. The breakfast the next morning was excellent and the perfect start for another day on the bike. Unfortunately, I could stay only one night because I was cycling through Central America. But this is not just a place you visit if you happen to be nearby — this is a place worth going to when you are in Costa Rica. Next time I will definitely stay longer. And perhaps… I will come without the bicycle

Staying at Palmetto Lodge was an absolutely wonderful experience. Our room was fantastic, the bed was so comfortable, and we even had a view of the ocean from our shower! Our front porch had a fun hanging chair, comfortable furniture, and total privacy. It was nice having the air conditioner during the hot days, and at night we enjoyed the tropical breezes and peaceful quiet. Eva and Markus are terrific hosts. Breakfasts were phenomenal with freshly baked breads, homemade yoghurt, delicious tropical fruits, homemade jams and preserves, and eggs cooked to order. The pool is beautiful and refreshing, with views of San Miguel beach. We will definitely return.

There was not a thing that we did not like, except that our vacation was over, and we had to leave. We can not wait to return.
