Markos House After a long journey it’s a great relief to arrive at such a well-presented house. There was nothing you needed for your stay and on arrival some Raki and wine and various nibbles were supplied, a nice touch. The Baklava from a local patisserie was to die for. Situated on the hillside overlooking the town and sea in such a peaceful location - only rent a small car as the road is very narrow outside the house. In the evening it was a joy to sit outside on the terrace and take in the unbelievably quite view. Sometimes with the addition of a local, well cared for, cat. There are several tavernas withing walking distance all serving excellent local food and wine at very reasonable prices. Along the main/coast road of Koutsonari were several small supermarkets - Kalimera being our favourite, so helpful and friendly - and roads leading down to the long beach with its crystal clear waters. The local main town of Ierapetra, only a few minutes drive away had all you needed by way of shops, large supermarkets and a myriad of restaurants along the sea front, good value. Creatan wine has come a long way since I first visited and I can recommend the wine tasting at the Toplou Monastery; it’s personalised just for your party. If driving from Heraklion airport there are many road works - been going on yeras - on the northern coast road. We came back over the mountains and it was a wonderful drive with very little traffic and stunning scenery. Overall, we were struck by the friendliest of everyone we encountered which made the stay even more enjoyable. Thank you George for your hospitality and your excellent house.

I've spent a week accessing my stay and I honestly can't think of any negitives about the house. However, car hire at Heraklion airport through Booking.com's recommendation of OK Mobility I would avoid. They gave me a particuliarly hard sell on their own insurance and dire consequences if I didn't take it - I didn't. It was twice the cost of my 8 day car hire - a rather uncomfortable and unpleasent experience.

George fue un anfitrión muy amable, pendiente en todo momento de nuestras necesidades. La casa en conjunto es muy agradable y esta completamente equipada. Un lugar para disfrutar, especialmente de la terraza y las vistas al mar.

Superbe maison avec une grande terrasse et une incroyable vue sur la mer. Maison parfaitement bien équipée.

Tout était parfait. Nous aurions aimé avoir des transats sur la terrasse. Mais c'est vraiment un détail
