The Shepherd's Retreat, superior mountain views

The place was great, very clean, plenty of amenities (kitchen items, towels, soaps, etc.) and we had an absolute blast there. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. The only two slight things I might mention that weren't great were the fact that there was a property manager staying in the apartment below us for part of our time there that we had not been told would be there. And when my girlfriend went to take a bath on our first night, we ran out of hot water before the tub was even half full. But those were minor things. Overall, it was a great experience.

We loved our stay- the property was perfect for our ladies weekend. We loved the location and the house was set up so nicely. The host was great, letting us know about building fences in the area. We would love to come back again!

Shepherds Retreat felt welcoming from the moment we walked through the door. The scent of fresh-baked bread, thoughtfully prepared by the caretakers Don and his wife, filled the home and set the tone for a truly special stay.My grandkids immediately discovered the upstairs game room and happily spent most of their time there when we were at the house. The sleeping arrangements were perfect — comfortable, cozy, and very much like home.The antique décor added a beautiful sense of nostalgia, making it feel like stepping back into Grandma’s house. And the sitting room views were simply breathtaking — we were in awe of both the sunrises and sunsets.Judson was incredibly accommodating with excellent communication throughout our stay. This is a great place to stay at. The owner was very responsive to us. Would love to stay for a few days. Only issue is that getting there is brutal. Google and Waze had us take a route that involved 8 miles of gravel (that became a dirt trail) that dead-ended. We called the owner, he helped us with new directions. That, too, was 8 miles of gravel and rock roads. I live on a gravel road, no problem there. But this wasn't a gravel road. If you don't have big tires and a big vehicle, I would think hard about this place. The holes in the road broke the backing plate on one of our tires. But, again, place was nice and the views from this REMOTE location are amazing!
