Lovely few days stay

Everything! Urchin a beautiful setting and stunning views. The apartment itself is fabulous, very tastefully decorated and all the amenities you would need. The hot tub is an added bonus. The hosts Henry and Elizabeth are very sociable without infringing on your privacy. Beautiful homemade bread and scones were delicious. Do not hesitate to book.

Wonderful stay at the Birdhouse

Loved the location with fabulous views over the bay and to the seven sisters mountains. Henry and Elizabeth are amazing hosts and are knowledgeable about the area. The location was private and very peaceful.

We didn't like that we only stayed for four nights. We are booking again for a longer stay next year!

Beautiful accommodation with outstanding hosts

An absolute gem of a place. From our arrival the hosts were so nice yet left us our space very quickly. Very kindly there was home made scones, jam and bread left along with some handy items like milk and eggs which meant you could hustle up a meal quickly. So nice of the hosts to do so. Plenty of cleaning items like soap and shower gel too. Unit was so bright and breezy feeling modern and homely at same time. Tv gave plenty of options too so after exploring the local area was nice to come back to a very comfortable and incredibly safe feeling place. I don’t even remember locking our doors which is certainly a first! There’s an upstairs bedroom and we used the downstairs one which is right beside everything. Bathroom very modern and the whole unit was left impeccable by our hosts. Don’t trust google maps tho, come through Dunfanaghy as it’s a much faster route than the single track hair raising route it takes you almost through the mountains of the glenveigh national park. Try it once for the views but use the Dunfanaghy route normally. Apple Maps is useless, takes you in circles. Bedroom leads directly to the hot tub, 5 steps and your into instant bliss. Completely private and secluded. How to make it a million out of ten, stick a wee cover over it so that when the weather gods aren’t as friendly like we had would be so much nicer. Again the hot tub looked after perfectly. This one the chemicals spot on, used others that almost blind you with the chlorine. Kitchen well equipped, spotless again. Bed was comfortable and plenty of layers to add or remove to regulate temperature. Again everything so pristine and new feeling. Will be a real pain to leave, we enjoyed our stay so much. Book it, you’ll not be disappointed I promise.

Spotlessly clean, friendly hosts.

Henry and Elizabeth met us on arrival. They are such lovely people, so friendly and welcoming. Elizabeth had baked us fresh bread and scones which were delicious. The Birdhouse is a beautiful place to stay. The property is imaculate and everything inside is spotlessly clean. Everything you would need has been provided. Both Henry and Elizabeth are on hand to provide any information you may need but once the initial introduction was made they left us in peace to enjoy the property. The view from the front of the property is amazing and the whole place is so peaceful and tranquil. I would thoroughly recommend this property to anyone wanting a getaway.

Lovely, peaceful stay in beautiful location

I loved my stay here. The hosts are friendly and welcoming and gave me some great recommendations of places to go, as well as providing a lovely welcome package of fresh bread and scones, butter and milk. The birdhouse is very private but it is reassuring to know they were next door if you needed anything, and it did help me feel safe as a solo traveller. The property was well provisioned for self catering, with all the small bits you might need. The view is stunning, the location fantastic. The beds were comfy, the hottub was great, and everything was spotlessly clean. Can't recommend this place enough, for me it was a haven of peace and quiet.

Everything was just perfect

Fabulous accomodation in Gortahork overlooking the coast. The accomodation is finished to the highest standard, it has everything you would want and more. A hot tub was located in a private area at the back of the accomodation with full access anytime. Henry and Elizabeth were the perfect hosts with a warm welcome which included fresh home baking and much more. It was a birthday celebration and they went the extra mile. We would highly recommend!

Genuinely lost for words on this place. Absolutely beautiful location, stunning place and pictures do not do it any justice. Henry and Elizabeth are the loveliest people we’ve had the pleasure of staying with, extremely friendly and more than helpful. We cannot be more thankful for them both! They had scones and bread upon arrival, and have every single thing that you will need for your stay. The hot tub was the perfect temperature (hard to find in most places!) and the perfect addition in this stunning place. We are so delighted we booked this place and if you’re reading this, don’t think about it just book it!! WOW - what a brilliant few nights away!

I don't think I have the words for how amazing this place is. The hosts were so great, and so, so thoughtful. Henry & Elizabeth have been amazing to speak with from booking, right through to finishing our stay. We were met by Henry who gave us a tour of the Birdhouse. It was first class. Plenty of space & so homely. There was fresh bread and scones on the table. The birdhouse was so clean and bright. A great environment if you are looking to escape the hustle & bustle of a busy routine / life. It has everything you need to chill out. We spent most of our stay either in the house, the hot tub or exploring the beaches, walking or in Glenveagh National Park which is roughly 15mins away. Such a little gem of a place. We can't wait to go back!!

The Birdhouse exceeded any expectation my friend and I had for our visit to Gortahork. We were greeted by Henry and Elizabeth at the property and they could not have done more to welcome us and make us feel at home in their outstanding property...a home from home with allllllllll the best bits to remind you that you are indeed on holiday!!! Exceptionally clean, modern and beautifully decorated, no corners cut at any point. All that's left to say is we will most definitely be back.

Amazing stay

Couldn't recommend the birdhouse enough. We stayed for 3 nights and attended a wedding close by so it was a great place to be based. Henry and Elizabeth couldn't do enough for us including Henry offering to run us back and forth to the hotel each day.. we really appreciated it. House was spotless and everything you needed. The hot tub was a lovely bonus. We will definitely be back to stay another time. 10/10

Magical

This property cannot be recommended highly enough. To put things into perspective we are a family group that live internationally and haven't been together for over 3 years because of COVID. So this has been a much anticipated holiday. And Henry and Elizabeth, their warmth, craic and their property made the wait worth it! The birdhouse is stunning, clean, well designed, every feature and utensil of excellent quality. The view breath taking. And the hot tub an unbelievable bonus in an already amazing place! I could not rate this beautiful little home any higher! We had the best 2 nights staying here. Henry and Elizabeth could not have done more for us and are such kind, lovely people. A wonderful Air B&B with attentive hosts and beautiful views!

WOW. What can I say, but that it was an incredible Air B&B in a great location for some peace and tranquillity. On arrival we were greeted by wonderful hosts who were extremely helpful on guiding us around the area. The views looking out from the property are just beautiful and the hot tub was greatly appreciated after a big beach walk. We honestly can’t wait to visit again

Slice of heaven

This place is amazing. Henry and Elizabeth are so lovely and have created a little slice of heaven here. I was greeted by them both on arrival and they showed me around and how to work heating and hot tub. They had also left some freshly baked bread and scones and eggs which was a really lovely touch. The place is so cosy and has everything you need. The photos do not do it justice. I stayed for 3 nights while solo travelling and its a great location for sightseeing and lots of walks. The hot tub is a great bonus to chill and relax in even when it is a bit windy and raining. On my last night the clouds cleared and I was able to sit in the hot tub and stargaze, would highly recommend. Henry and Elizabeth are great hosts and recommend some lovely places. I will definitely be back for another stay.

The place was great. Good location and we had our 11 month old baby with us. Warm and cosy even though it was blowing a gale outside. Some fantastic scenery around us and I would definitely return again. Hosts were fantastic and very welcoming. Hot tub was an added bonus.

Beautiful escape to the Gaeltacht

This property was absolutely perfect for us. It’s hard to include everything that was great about our stay because it was very special! The house was absolutely spotless, beautifully decorated and so comfortable. The hot tub is an amazing bonus to make it even more relaxing. The views from the place are breathtaking and it was fantastic to be so near the beach. Our hosts were so welcoming and fun, and we were sad to leave. Do not hesitate to book the place for a group, the long drive for us was worth it.
