Villa VerdeBlu Rethymno Crete

Thank you Katerina for being a great host. Fruits and a stocked fridge were a nice welcome. Villa is very clean, modern and has loads of space. The kitchen is very well stocked. Not to mention a huge outdoor area. We were spoiled for choice as the villa is in a very strategic location, just an hour from Chania and Heraklion, close to archaeological sites and of course lovely beaches. Rethymno old town is just a few minutes by car. we highly recommend this lovely villa to both families and group of friends. You won't be disappointed.

The house was amazing. 3 large bedrooms plus an extra bed in the living room. 2 bathrooms in the living space plus one in the garage/pool area. The rooms are big and spacious, I actually recommended to the host to add some extra beds to accommodate more as the only thing we did in the house was sleep. The rest of the time we were in the outdoor areas of the house. The house is situated on a hill. The living space is on one floor with a huge balcony and dining area with views of the sea. Here we ate breakfast and sat in the warm evenings enjoying a drink and each other’s company. Under the living area is a large garage which leads to the pool area. After a day on the beach the pool was refreshing. There is sun beds, a barbecue and even pizza oven and fridge. Above the living area is a room top terrace. Too hot to sit at during the day but the perfect place to watch the sunset. The host Katherina was amazing, it was like having our own concierge via WhatsApp. Directly when I booked she contacted me with information and was quick to answer questions. She had put some food in the fridge for us as we arrived late so that we had breakfast which was really thoughtful. When we needed a taxi we sent her a quick message and she arranged it. She booked restaurants for us and recommended where to go. A car is highly recommended. As the house is situated on a hill side with small roads and no pavements walking back from the beach is hard work. a taxi from Chania airport will cost 180euro return and then taxis to and from the resort 7euro and to Rethymno 14 euros. A hire car cost around 300 euro and gives the flexibility to get around especially with children. The parking next to the beach is free. The beach is pebbles going into the water and big rock under the water that need to be navigated before coming to the deep water. Shoes are needed to avoid cuts on the feet.

There are no locks on the bathroom doors. We solved this by leaving the doors open when not occupied. If the doors closed, don’t come in!
