As a property it was perfect.. the room which we stayed in had an amazing ambience and view from the balcony.. staff is nice.

The route from dharamshala to hosteller is not good enough very rough road.

Hosteller Kareri is a beautiful place to stay. The village is peaceful and gorgeous. The property has great social spaces with incredible views. The food is fantastic. It's a great place to meet new people. All of the staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and kind. The rooms are brilliant, spacious and very clean. I will definitely stay again.

The only thing I liked about this place was the mountain view, which was stunning.

I can't believe this place has a 9/10 review. Starting with the food, it was a bit heavy for me: lots of gravy, sauce, seasoning. Unfortunately, I got food poisoning and fever and had to be on antibiotics for 5 days and missed the course I was going to do later on at Tushita. I was the only guest at the hostel for several days, which makes me think that the food was probably not fresh as there was no demand at the restaurant. The room and bathroom are VERY cold in the evening (I was there in October), I can't imagine how it gets during winter. There was a heater in the room but it wouldn't fit the plug. There are several dogs in the village and literally EVERY night they start barking and howling, so I did not have good nights of sleep there because of the noise. My bed sheet was not clean when I got there - photos attached. I had to ask the cleaning lady to change it. Sometimes, the staff (cleaners and from the restaurant) listen to loud music which is very unprofessional and quite annoying as a guest. I came here with the expectation that there would be day tours or guided hikes to the mountains, but there was none - especially because the hostel was pretty empty. Because I'm travelling alone, I did not feel comfortable going on a 5h trek by myself to Lake Kareri. So I got bored during my stay and ended up checking out earlier than expected because there was literally nothing to do there - it is a very isolated area!
