    After a work trip and business stay at ***, I moved to Peranakan House with my family for a quieter and more peaceful stay. However, even before checking in, I noticed a guest requesting an extra blanket and an additional room key card for his family. The hotel informed him that while the key card would be provided, they would charge 500 THB per item for what are generally considered basic amenities at most hotels. We then checked in. To be fair, the rooms were great and the location is excellent, no complaints there. However, issues started when we requested additional water bottles. Only two bottles were provided for the entire day, and every request for extra water was repeatedly denied. By around 9:00 a.m., just before checkout, we approached the front desk again regarding the water. The conversation did not go well, and I insisted on speaking to the manager. we began recording the conversation as proof of what was being discussed by both parties. We also discovered that the second room we had booked was not cleaned, simply because we did not place the “cleaning required” signage, meaning housekeeping would not clean the room unless the sign was used - not a problem to me but the denying every request for water seems too much. The manager/owner who spoke to me was, unfortunately, even worse than the receptionist. He stated that it was clearly mentioned in Agoda’s policy that only two water bottles would be provided. He also bluntly said that he did not care if we posted this experience anywhere, as it was “hotel policy,” and abruptly ended the conversation. When a property head speaks this way, all we could do was laugh as it was our first time encountering such behavior. As someone familiar with the hospitality industry, the response felt shocking and unprofessional. After the call ended, we mutually agreed with the receptionist to delete the recording (she did the same). I calmly explained to her that water should never be a point of argument, especially with paying guests. I even showed her the agoda bookint details, where nowhere was it stated that only two water bottles would be provided per day. She acknowledged this and simply smiled—she herself tried to find the clause and couldn’t(added the proof here for reference). At the end of the day, it’s just water. But when guests are tired or thirsty, small considerations matter. That’s what true hospitality is about.
