Hotel building and single staff member we met were lovel. Room was clean but not as photo showed on website: bunkbeds rather than twin beds. Awkward for elderly couple. Communal shower needed some bleach. Guest lounge was poorly provided for.

I hate to give a low score but want others aware of what the situation is. There are no toilets or showers in the rooms, a single toilet and shower are shared by all the guests who identify as male. I do not know if it is the same for those who identify differently. You do need to have your own toiletries as well. The check in process w

Excellent stay. Beautiful weather. Only thing would be instructions for checking out in the morning. No one about. Finally found the chef who took the key from me . Other then that is the prime shot in taken to hang out. Will visit again.

Funky cool vibe for a good price. Would have appreciated a mattress pad under the sheets, and a newer bed cover, but great location, friendly staff, and considerate guests made it a good spot for visiting Raglan.

Great atmosphere. Accommodation on second floor, great balcony to view the town and beyond. Lounge area with tea and coffee. Clean with the charm of old, renovated, to have mod cons. Friendly welcoming environment. Would gladly come back.

Beautiful hotel from the outside and very historic. Shared one toilet for 8 rooms and found it gross that no hand soap was supplied ianywhere. Assumed soap would be in toilet, but no. Nice there was an electric kettle in a common room for all the rooms to share but since no one could wash their hands ……. Also no way to fill the kettle with water

Bedroom was good, with comfy bed. Bar and restaurant staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Only complaint was the condition of the Guest Lounge. Broken and dirty coffee mugs, no teaspoons, out of date milk in fridge, TV that didn't go and an overflowing rubbish bin, not emptied when I was there. Also, women's shower needed used towels removed and drain appeared to be blocked.

Pretty basic with shared bathroom and toilet, not my kind of thing but had no choice, very noisy due to bare floors and thin walls. Good food and beer tho, and staff were great.

Charming, centrally located. Bar and restaurant downstairs. Very clean. Very simple rooms. Lots of surfers, couples and the lone traveler. Good food, friendly staff. Noisy till 10pm

The room was simple, clean and comfortable but paint was peeling on the ceiling. Bathroom was shared and average. Staff were pleasant but forgot to mention the wifi password on the back of the key. Take earplugs if you stay on a Saturday or Sunday as the Yot Club rages pretty late.

Third attempt to leave a review. worst hotel experience I have ever had in my entire life. And I've traveled extensively in numerous countries.Check-in includes waiting in line with people who are ordering food and drinks. When I stated I was there for the night, the waitress looked at my family with wide eyes and said, "You know it's a shared toilet?" It was indeed, shared toilets and showers down a long hall. No sink in our room. No sink in the common area. Cracked and peeling paint everywhere.There is a loud nightclub across the street, the music kept us up past midnight. At 7:30 AM we were awakened by the sounds of vacuuming and cleaning in the hotel. I asked a staff member when checkout was and was told 10 am. I started doing some work and a staff member came at 9:20 to ask if I was extending? I said no. At 9:30 she came back to say she needed to begin cleaning. I stated I was told checkout was at 10? She said yes, would have to have everything out by 10. I only had my purse and laptop and agreed I would be out. Then they fired up abnociously loud and annoying music in the hall. The whole time, the manager was yelling, swearing and complaining at the staff. At 9:45 the person in charge walked into my room, saw I was still there, swore at me and left. I then went to the common area to finish work. I went to checkout and nobody was at the counter.This was a highly disappointing experience, especially given the high reviews on hotels .com.
