    We had a wonderful stay at Dali Old Town Courtyard Boutique Inn and were very happy with our choice. We absolutely loved the courtyard and the architectural style of the property — it was exactly the kind of traditional Chinese-style accommodation we were hoping to experience during our trip. The staff were very friendly and helpful. One of the staff members came to meet us at the entrance of the old town and helped us get to the hotel, which we really appreciated. When we checked out, another lovely staff member also arranged for someone to accompany us to the pickup point where we could easily get a taxi. The location is excellent. Although the hotel is right inside Dali Old Town, it is surprisingly quiet and peaceful, so you get the convenience of staying in the centre without the noise. It really feels like a little peaceful retreat in the middle of everything. There was just one small issue during our stay: it rained quite heavily one evening and there was a minor leak in one part of our room. However, it did not really affect our stay, and considering that this is an older traditional-style building, we completely understood. This was our first time visiting Dali, and before the trip we were actually unsure whether to stay near Erhai Lake or in the Old Town. We are very glad that we chose to stay here because it made exploring Dali extremely convenient. The value for money is also excellent, and we would definitely choose this place again next time we visit. One small personal suggestion would be that during check-in, the front desk could perhaps proactively share a few local travel tips, restaurant recommendations, or sightseeing suggestions. I think this would be especially helpful for first-time visitors and international guests who may not be familiar with Dali. Of course, this is only a small suggestion and did not take away from our very positive experience. Overall, a beautiful, peaceful, well-located place with lovely staff and great value. Highly recommended!

    Great location, super clean, great staff except the young lady who was fluent in English and supported with guiding the guests for activities around city created a lot of confusion and misguidance.

    The location is perfect for a first visit to Dali right in the heart of the charming Old Town, with restaurants and shops just a 2–3 minute walk away. Despite being so central, the hotel is tucked away on a quiet street, so the rooms are peaceful. The building is old but full of character and well maintained. Everything was very clean, and the staff were warm, friendly, and welcoming. The only downside is the sound insulation. Since it’s a historic building, you can clearly hear footsteps from the room above, so if you’re a light sleeper, I recommend requesting a room on the top floor. One suggestion for improvement is the travel advice provided by the hotel. A staff member kindly helped me book my Cangshan Mountain ticket, but some important details were missing. I was encouraged to go all the way to the summit without being told that it would be much colder, often very foggy with limited views, and at a much higher altitude with noticeably thinner air. I also wasn’t told that I needed to enter a specific cable car station in Didi searching for “Cangshan Mountain” takes you to the main entrance, about 12 km from where my ticket was booked, which made my trip unnecessarily stressful. The staff member was genuinely kind and trying to help, but I recommend doing your own research before taking her advice and recommendations.

    This is an old house converted into a hotel with a few rooms. The rooms are big but there is no sound insulation. But it is away from the busy part of Dali old town. The breakfast was very basic - I decided not to eat there and instead go out. I was most annoyed about the checkin. I contacted them on Wechat and they gave me the name of a store that nobody knew. Then I asked for a location on Wechat and the taxi driver dropped me there. However, the hotel was nowhere nearby, and I walked around with my heavy backpack. After calling them, I realized that the hotel is half a km walking distance away. I don't understand why they did not send me two locations - one for taxi drop off and one for the actual hotel.
