The Wilson Galata Hotel

We enjoyed a wonderful weeks stay at the hotel this month. Our room was a junior suite with a balcony which was the perfect amount of space for the two of us. It was quiet and well cleaned, all amenities etc worked well. The hotel is full of character - from the cute cafe at the front to the very Istanbul interior feel. Whilst some of the decor may need updating, it didn’t impact our stay. The staff are really friendly and helpful too. We’d definitely stay again, especially as the area is perfect for exploring the city and surrounding shops and eateries are so good!

After staying for a few days in Sultanahmet we wanted to stay in a different part of Istanbul and the Wilson Galata was situated in a shopping and cultural hub. Extremely convenient to get to some great places such as the Galata Tower, the cinema museum and İstiklal Cd which is the main shopping street. There's also a couple of lovely restaurants right nearby, as well as two convenience stores. Just know that this area, like most of Istanbul, is incredibly hilly, so bring good walking shoes and prepare to do lots of up- and downhill excursions. Our room was nice but we had a couple of minor issues with the electronic lock on the door not activating but it seemed to reset itself without needing to get maintenance.

The hotel position is perfect fôr tourists. You have everything besides. It was a little bit cold at the hotel but with the air conditioning everything is ok. The one thing i could really complain about is the cleaning staff, they don’t really clean so well, i could see the table was not cleaned alle the 6 days we were there, and the toilet flusher was not working in our room, we talked to the receptionist but no one did anything about it, neither the housekeeper. Otherwise i really like the hotel and the staff are so friendly and welcoming.
