Good breakfast, clean and ideal location if you don’t mind small room 😀

My sister and I have been visiting Hokkaido with the same group of friends for the past seven years, but all of our previous trips were during winter. This was our first time experiencing Hokkaido in all its vibrant summer colors, and our stay at Smile Premium Hotel Sapporo Susukino made the trip even more memorable. The hotel's location was perfect for our needs. It was within walking distance of the restaurants, shopping areas, and attractions we wanted to explore. Both the Hosui-Susukino Subway Station and Susukino Station were just a short 3 to 5-minute walk away, making it incredibly convenient to get around the city. We used our Suica cards throughout the trip without any issues. For those interested, Hokkaido's local IC card is called Kitaca, which can be purchased at Sapporo Station. A special shout-out to the helpful staff assisting at the JR ticket machines. Be kind and patient, and they'll gladly help you with any questions or concerns. We decided to avail of the hotel's breakfast buffet on our first and last mornings, and it was definitely worth it. For JPY 2,000 per person, the spread included incredibly fresh scallops, salmon, and sweet red shrimp (which Google identified as amaebi). One guest loved the shrimp so much that she probably consumed a kilo's worth by herself! Overall, the breakfast offered excellent value and a great way to start the day. Room cleaning was scheduled only once during our 6-day, 5-night stay, which was perfectly fine with us. We don't usually create much mess, and the hotel made it easy to keep our room tidy. Every day, we placed our trash bin and used towel basket outside our door, and the staff promptly replaced them. This meant we always had fresh towels without needing full housekeeping service. One of the things we appreciated most was the variety of items available for guests to borrow. We were able to borrow a hair iron, as well as a regular iron and ironing board. Near the lobby coffee machine, there's a board listing all available loan items, which even included laptops and chargers. Speaking of the coffee machine, complimentary coffee is available in the lobby from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and it was surprisingly good. Guests can also pick up fresh sleepwear near the elevators each evening, a thoughtful touch that added to our comfort. The hotel also offers self-service laundry facilities on several floors, with the exact locations conveniently posted inside the elevators. Before our departure, we requested a late checkout since our airport transfer to New Chitose International Airport wasn't scheduled until noon. The extension cost JPY 3,000, which we found reasonable and worthwhile. There's even a weighing scale near the reception desk, making it easy to check luggage weight before heading to the airport. Overall, the hotel provided everything we needed and more. The staff were consistently courteous, professional, and eager to assist whenever needed. The only downside had nothing to do with the hotel itself. During several evenings, some guests gathered in the lobby and spoke very loudly. One of the reasons we love visiting Japan is its calm and peaceful atmosphere, so returning to the hotel and being greeted by excessive noise felt somewhat overstimulating. To fellow travelers, a gentle reminder: please be mindful of others and use your indoor voices in shared spaces. We are all guests, and a little consideration goes a long way in making the experience enjoyable for everyone. Despite this minor issue, our stay at Smile Premium Hotel Sapporo Susukino was excellent, and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again on our next visit to Sapporo.
