    We arrived at Mairood resort with no specific expectations and were amazingly surprised. The host, Chin, is a very open minded and knowledgeable person. We wish we have had more time to get to know him. He welcomed us with an open heart and trust like we don‘t see very often. The place is incredible, a huge garden/jungle full of life with different varieties of birds, also some cats, dogs and chickens ! It is a quiet place to relax, restore and reflect. The staff is very kind and helpful. The food is delicious too! We felt like at home the first second we entered. There is a cute swimming pool. The bungalows are very sweet. We were there with our 3,5 year daughter and it is kind friendly. We will definitely be back!

    A wonderful place - for three reasons: (1) Comfortable spacious rooms set amongst a wonderfully lush garden with a very nice pool and airy dining area. (2) The fishing village, which you have to pass through to get to the hotel, is itself very picturesque, very interesting and worth exploring. (We went on to Koh Kut where there is nothing like this traditional way of life anymore - the whole island is basically just a tourist resort, nice but not especially Thai.) (3) The enormously welcoming and helpful Mr Chin who was a gracious host, solved all problems and speaks excellent English. I booked in a hurry thinking Mairood is actually in Trat city only to find I had to double back 56 kms almost to the Cambodian border from where I had just come. So don't make my mistake and it may require special transport arrangements (which Mr Chin can probably organise). A very pleasant experience overall. I will make a point of stopping there for at least two nights next time I pass through .

    A visit to the Mairood Resort is more of an experience rather than just a stay. To get to the resort, you travel through a local fishing community built on a series of boardwalks along the river. You can see the interesting day to day life of the local community, and then relax in the gardens of the resort or take a dip in the refreshing swimming pool. There are also a few white sand beaches within a short drive of the resort. The owner, Chin has rescued several animals, so you will find cats, dogs, birds, and even a pig all cohabitating on the property. There are only a few restaurants in the area, but you will love the complementary American breakfast with fresh fruit and the extraordinary, reasonably-priced dinners prepared at the resort by Chin. We can’t say enough about the kindness of Chin and his staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our conversations and regularly observed him going out of his way to make each guest’s stay memorable. The bungalow we had was spacious and included everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The resort also has bicycles and scooters available, and Chin often provides transportation services for his guests. We highly recommend the Mairood Resort for a unique travel experience you won’t forget!
