Canyon Lake Resort

The room was very clean and the staff was super helpful. The first day we got there the air-conditioning froze us out. Would definitely go back and stay there.

I liked that this place was outside the downtown area because it felt like a camping trip next to a lake, yet in close proximity to the festivities in downtown Rapid City with all the 4th of July events for the country's 250th celebration. Yes, it's an older property so furniture is "dated" but it's clean and quiet. Staff is always very helpful. Deb, Sandy, Dave were all friendly and accommodating with things needed for our 4-night stay. Guests are free to use the paddle boats which we took advantage of. Bring your own life vests if you have, because it's required and most available were pretty small for my husband. :) Propane gas BBQs are available. Laundry on-site, a definite plus! Dishes/utensils provided if you request. Pool is small-ish but good enough for a 7 yr old that just wants to jump in the water all the time. Great location! Very close to Chapel in the Hills, easy drive to Black Hills Caverns, and of course to Mt Rushmore. Even had time for weekday mass at the Catholic church right across. Lots of little things made our trip memorable like getting ice cream from the food truck in the parking lot to sitting out on the benches to watch local neighborhood fireworks. Again, older property so may not be for everyone. But we had a great time and those little things made the trip all the more special!
