    I really want to recommend the hotel Hayashi but I am afraid I really can't, if the question is would I stay there again I would have to answer no. I want to be clear though, its not that no one should stay here. The price is low but not very low, the rooms are extremely small and if you are over 6ft you will likely bang your head on the door to your room and some signs. There is a lift but its up some stairs which means it does not help as much as I would like with heavy bags. The room is tiny and very old, most things are falling apart. My sink had a constant leak, the toilet seat was awkward and wobbly and the shower barely worked. I think this is because you are not expected to use the shower, this is where my personal experience comes in, as someone with a stoma I need to use the toilet in a specific way and the shower as well, with the facilities as they were this was extremely difficult for me. Those are the negatives, but on the positive side the staff were lovely, really excellent. There is an onsen in the building itself with Beppu's signature extreme heat and by staying here you get free access to two other local hotels onsens (much newer and fancier hotels). The hotel is also literally opposite the station so could not be easier to find and travel to/from. So my honest opinion is that if you just need somewhere to crash out and like the idea of a cheap place with nice people and multiple onsen access so close to the station then yes, book here. If you have any additional needs or plan to use the room/bathroom for anything other than the absolute basic minimum, or are tall, then I would advise looking elsewhere.

    People with no fuss will find it functional for a night stay. It fits the price. If you want larger, cleaner, modernized room and toilet, find another hotel. Free parking is a plus tho, if you're driving.
