Hotel Isafjordur - Horn

By far the worst hotel during my two week Iceland trip. The hotel doesn't have a reception. One has to check in at another hotel and get the room keys and an access code for this hotel. The restaurant (for breakfast) is also at the other place. So one has to walk or drive for breakfast. Not sure what this building used to be but definitely not a hotel, more like a storage place. The elevator was design for goods, it doesn't have walls or a ceiling. My biggest problem was the window though. The building kinda looks like it was renovated but it really wasn't. Just some new paint on the walls. The window frame is 40 years old and out of woods. The window itself doesn't really close correctly, it doesn't have a real window handle. Just a hook which supposed to close the window. Very strange for Iceland because every other place I have been to had proper windows which closed and kept the heat in. Across the street is the only burger and pizza joint in town. So everyone seems to buy their dinner there. So you have constantly people coming and going to pick up their food order. You can hear the closing of the car doors in your room like it is right next to you. Impossible to sleep while the restaurant is open. I tried to change my room but apparently they were sold out. The receptionist definitely knew what I was complaining about and probably heard this many times before. She was not surprised at all. Each floor has a sofa sitting area right in front of your room. So basically if you have people sitting there, you can listen to their conversation all night long. I will definitely never stay at this place again. Other Icelandic hotels for half the price are way better.
