Great hotel in such a beautiful and unique location. We loved hiking the nuns path down into the town below. Great place to stay for hiking Pico Grande and PR1. We miss the beautiful view from the pool & spa already!

Beautiful property with amazing views. Take the hike up from the valley it’s worth the walk. Food was ok, and you will find better in the valley and this is only a minor point. Enjoyed my stay and would recommend spending a night there.

The location deserves the highest praise, and the room was clean and comfortable. However, the view was disappointing as it overlooked the spa roof rather than the valley. The shower was excellent, although there was no bathtub.
Breakfast was very basic, though this may be intentional to avoid overwhelming choice. The spa facilities themselves are great, but opening hours are limited to 10:00 AM–7:00 PM. Since we were out most of the day, we had to rush back in order to use them. In my opinion, hotel guests should receive either free or discounted access to the spa.
Dinner was decent but very expensive, with extra charges for side dishes adding up quickly. If you have the chance, I would recommend dining in Funchal or the surrounding areas, where prices are much more reasonable.
