Casa da Cal - by Casas na Ilha

I stayed at Casa da Cal as a solo traveller and could not have chosen a better place to stay. Camara da Lobos itself is a gorgeous fishing village, with the accommodation in walkable distance to a supermarket and an abundance of excellent cafes and restaurants. Also quite central in the South meaning it did not take too long to get to any other areas of the island. I was lucky to have an incredible sea view room. The size of the room was outstanding and bathroom was pristine. Shared facilities were more often than not free. I particularly appreciated how each apartment clearly had our own utensils, cupboard, fridge and towels etc. It was lovely to have the option to sit in various areas downstairs, outside and next to the pool. On-site secure parking was incredibly useful. Be prepared for some careful, quick reverse parking into the garage, but this was so beneficial as someone who hired a car to get around. No doubt that I would stay again in a heartbeat and recommend to anyone else!

Very nice property, spacious, clean, and well organized, with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The shared areas are generous and the outdoor space is beautiful. Parking was also available.

Our room was on the ground floor near the stairs, so we could occasionally hear some noise from the kitchen and people using the staircase, but it was not a major issue. We had an "ants situation", which we reported to the owner and were assured would be taken care of.

Casa de Cal is a beautiful property in a very fine period house very well converted, stylish and full of antiques. A lovely garden and patio area with a pool. Our room was spacious and very comfortable with large modern bathroom. A gem

Without a car it is a bit of a walk into the town and steep climb on the way back so not ideal for those with mobility issues. The kitchen is shared which could be a bit awkward with some guests.

Super noisy due to location on 2 main roads as well as bad isolation from the inside (yes, its an old building and yes this will also depend on co-residents). There is no staff, so no one to give recommendations or anything :(
