Residhotel Vieux Port

Residhotel certainly surprised me having seen some less favourable ratings. It’s a small building on a back street of the Vieux Port area. Check in was fairly quick and the receptionist was friendly and spoke enough English for us to understand eachother. My room was the standard studio with a large bed, situated on the 5th floor, which can be accessed by elevator. The room was equipped with cooking equipment, a microwave, a fridge, a hob and oven, as well as a kettle, a coffee machine and some cleaning products. Also plates, cutlery, cups etc. Please note no coffee, tea or sugar are provided, and there’s no bottled water in the rooms. There are Franprix and Utile supermarkets located nearby for your needs. The bed was spacious, comfortable and clean with reading lamps and plugs on both sides. There was a spacious wardrobe, a side table, a dining table with 2 chairs and a TV in the main part of the room. The room was air conditioned and had black out blinds. I would note however that there isn’t much sound protection and you can hear neighbours moving around, as well as the busy roads outside - not an issue for me really but if you struggle to sleep with noise then good to know. The bathroom was really impressive, it felt like it had been renovated quite recently perhaps. There was a walk in shower with waterfall and standards heads, as well as a sizeable basin with a large light up mirror, a hairdryer and a towel rack that can be warmed in cooler months. Towels and soap are provided. The location is unbeatable for the value, located in the bustling central Vieux Port/Hotel de Ville area which has an abundance of great restaurants, cafes and bars. It’s also about 8-10 mins from the gorgeous Panier area where I enjoyed a solo dinner of small plates and natural wine. Cours Julien is about 20 mins walk away, and there is a metro station close by for spots more further afield. As it’s near the port it’s also well located for boat trips to the Calanques and other locations. My only notes would be signs of wear in the communal areas of the hotel make it feel a little rundown, but rooms are much more modern. I would also flag that the reception is not 24 hours, and it has specific hours that it is open throughout the day, so you may not be guaranteed that it is open for bag drop if you arrive before 3pm check in. It is also closed at night and the early hours of the morning, if you want to check in after opening hours you need to contact them and they will leave your key in a lock box for you. There is no self check out card deposit so I had to slip my card under the door of the reception office and email them. There is also no turnover service for stays under 6 days. All in all would recommend for the value for money.

This hotel is great value for money with friendly staff. However, it is SO LOUD. We heard honking horns and people on the street throughout the night. It felt like we were outside. I was completely unable to sleep. My partner and I checked out early, and the staff were super helpful and accommodating, and understanding. I wouldn't stay again, but if you are a deep sleeper, then maybe it would be better.

The staff is great, especially Tseary who is a wonderful person that the company is lucky to have. He was very attentive to the needs of every customer/client. When my wife and I arrived, he was alone and had to go back and forth to accommodate customers in the breakfast, check in and people checking out. He was so efficient that time seemed to bend. The location is great, the facilities are clean and well taken care of.. 10/10 ⭐️ 🏆 🏆

When you check-in, they ask for 150 euro deposit. I paid with my debit card. When I was checking out, they said they will return my money remotely within a day. Now, 3 weeks later - still no money. They scam people with those deposits.
