Nine Design Place

Lady boss and her staff were really friendly and hospitable . - provided free mineral water - offered free breakfast which was really tasty even when we did not top up for breakfast - the coffee machine has Thai milk tea which was very authentic and nice - served mango sticky rice and mangosteen on our first and last day respectively . Really felt Thai hospitality and enjoyed our stay with Nine design! ❤️

To sum it up, the accommodation experience here is unlike any that I have experienced so far. In a very good way. The hotel: It is a small building with 6 level - 5 level in the building including the lobby, and 1 level on the rooftop. Level 1 is the lobby (ground floor) where there is a reception counter, small dining area, toilet, and kitchen. Level 2 seems to be a storage level (walked past the floor through the stairs and took a glimpse). Level 3, 4, 5 & rooftop are rooms. The staff told me the rooftop and one of the other floors (either level 3 or 5, can't remember) is 1 single big room occupying the whole level. I stayed at level 4 and there are only 3 rooms there. The are both stairs and a single elevator to get you up and down. Be mindful the touch control panel outside the elevator can be finicky to use (i think you have to long press the button). Thank goodness for the physical floor level button inside! Only the rooms and the lobby has AC. So it could get balmy while waiting for the elevator outside your room. The dining area at lobby has a drink making machine (I think it uses instant powdered drink) that could dispense coffee, Thai milk tea, chocolate drinks, and anything in between that mixes them eg. mocha. It is free to use. Right beside it is a small drink refrigerator with bottled drinking water in it. You may take the bottled water freely. The room: Squeaky clean. Literally. My shoes squeaks when they touch the room floor. The tiled floor is immaculately polished and the room overall is just sparkling clean throughout. Do note that the provided room slippers does not work well with the floors as I have too many near miss with slipping footsteps while wearing them. My adjacent room is occupied and I don't hear much noise from next door, yet I could hear passing vehicles and pedestrian talking at the street below. I could also hear squeaky footsteps outside the room and the elevator 'ding'. I did not fiddle with the TV so not sure what is on the channels. The staff: The lady owner, Mei, speaks fluent English, and is very friendly. There is a chubby male staff that speaks simple English, and another 2 (or 3?) female staff that do not speak English at all. I have only met the owner on the 1st day and 2nd day, and most of interaction I've had is with the chubby male stuff and he is the star of the hotel experience. While speaking only minimal English, he strive to communicate, and serve and make things good with guests. He serve breakfast, arrange taxis, give guidance on surrounding are, even sending laundry (and pay for it in advance!). It is a shame that I forgot to ask his name to give him credit where it's due. The location: If you look up Google map, the hotel is located at what looks like an alley. While you may think it is a quiet street, it does in fact has surprising amount of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. From the main street to the hotel there are at least 3 other premises with security personnel posted outside so you should not feel unsafe walking back to the hotel at night. From the hotel if you turn left and walk down the alley until the river bank, there are some local food stalls there to try if you are adventurous. On the river there is a bridge that crosses to the other side where there's settlements (hence the heavy pedestrian traffic). If you do not cross the bridge but turn right and walk along the river bank, you could reach Jim Thompson House from there instead of walking via the main street. If you walk to the main street from the hotel, turn right when you reach the main street and keep walking, past the engineering institute/school, right before reaching Lotus, there is a road on your right that has variety of stalls selling all sort of local snacks and food in the morning. You would need some cash on hand though as the QR payment code at the stalls does not work for me. If you try to call for ride share service (via Grab app) during peak traffic time, you will get a higher

This is a super late review but I had a pleasant stay here. The service was super friendly and it's in a quiet area. I didn't have any issues with catching Grabs from here either.

The room is very spacious and clean. The location is near the Stadium BTS, less than 5mins walk. The malls are also near and if you are watching concert at National Stadium, this is a good option. The employees are nice and friendly, even give fruits for free when you go back in afternoon. Water is also free and can get from lobby. Also have free breakfast. The feel of the hotel is like a local house with rustic feel.
