Beautiful hotel, really cheap, very helpful staff

The property offers excellent value with spacious rooms, clean bathrooms, and well-maintained facilities that enhance comfort and convenience. The staff are exceptionally helpful and attentive, contributing to a pleasant experience. While the location is good, it could be more central. Overall, a solid choice for those seeking a comfortable and well-equipped place to stay!

We stayed in the small room which was thoughtfully decorated with everything we needed. Plenty of seating outside the room to chill or eat at. Great location in old city of Bangkok - short walk to Khao San Road. Free coffee and tea was an added bonus. Would stay here again

I booked one of the smaller rooms, so I'm not sure about the others. The good things first: the place is well located, clean, and affordable. There is free cold/hot water, tea, coffee, and cocoa. However, keep in mind that anything you eat needs to be eaten downstairs at their foyer tables. There is no refrigerator in the room, but a shared refrigerator next to the tables. Durian fruit is not even allowed on the premises. The claim is that the durian smell will be absorbed by curtains, bedding, etc; even in a closed package. Next, the toilet in the bathroom is not the original design which must have been a round bowl. This bowl is oval shaped, which is better, but leaves no room for European sized legs. Your legs will be banging the wall in front of you as you sit on the throne. Also, the walls are thin as well as the windows. Neighboring rooms complained about a normal volume conversation at night. Very easy for sound to travel and quiet hours start at 22:00 PM. At various times throughout the night and day a rooster was heard crowing as well as people in the alley preparing something around 04:00 AM. Even though the windows are shut, the glass is so poor at insulating noise that it sounds as if they are directly next to my ear. I had to wear earplugs to sleep. Especially with the rooster crowing at all hours. Even during the day! At 21:00 PM I was told to soften my footsteps on the stairs. It wasn't even quiet hours, but you get the idea. This place will have you tip-toeing throughout in order to maintain noise standards. Lastly, on my departure day the only entry road to the hotel was closed. Taxis were not able to drive up. So I had to move 6 pieces of luggage a block down the street before the taxi could pick me up. Unfortunate situation. Not the hotel's fault, but note that this sort of thing can happen. It's a fairly narrow alley. Taxis don't really like to drive down that road because they can't back out easily. I would recommend this place for the location and the cleanliness. The strict rules wouldn't be so onerous if there was actual sound insulation in the rooms; e.g. if the quiet hours actually resulted in quiet, then it would be fine. I recommend staying, but be prepared for the experiences I mentioned.
