Currently the hotel is building a conference centre; I understand why as weddings and conferences are its bread and butter, but frankly I think the money would be better spent on maintenance and tidying it up. If you advertise as a 5 star hotel, then be a 5 star hotel. Right now the only thing going for the hotel apart from its location and being surrounded by nature in that middle of Kathmandu are the staff - they are 5 star - and the food. Our room was very disappointing: cold/luke warm shower which was never remedied despite repeated requests, mould on the curtains, the bar fridge cupboard door was off the hinges, the shower over the bath allowed water all over the floor which in turn caused sludge-like mould on the door frames, the bathroom magnifying mirror had come off at one stage and instead of replacing it, the end was crimped so it didn’t cut you, there was mould in the bath, on the grout and on the blind, some ceiling lights needed replacement, the external walls needed repainting and patching; honestly, I could go on and on. The hotel is being held together by the hardworking staff; they are delightful and made the experience more pleasant, but overall the property should have a 3 star rating if it’s rated on the rooms and grounds alone.

Management team has terrible hospitality skills however any one not in management is lovely, incredibly helpful and friendly. For example, when I inquired areas I could walk around the front desk manager or attendant was very short and condescending that I couldn’t walk any paths without paying for a forest guide. I attempted to explain I could see paved pathways outside my window. He interrupt me multiple times and told me I was wrong in a very rude fashion. A luggage attendant intervened respectfully and explained to me how to get to the golf course path that I must have seen. He gave me a warm smile and the exact information I needed. As I walked away I could hear the front desk member scolding him. Infuriating. Construction was nearby, intensive cleaning throughout the property and breaking down of a wedding set up was occurring during my stay which greatly disrupted the peaceful forest stay that is advertised.
