Tides River Lodge is a beautiful and tranquil location on the banks of the Breede river. 30 miles down a dirt road from the main highway takes about an hour, but any car is ok for it. The result is well worthwhile. No food here but there's a good pub (Grunters) up the road which is scruffy as you like but actually is a proper pub and also does great food. Yes, definitely worthwhile!

Beautiful setting. Staff really helpful. Boathouse was really comfortable and private. Good access to the nature reserve. Road too and from Tides was much less bumpy than anticipated - so much better than alot of roads in Africa. Grunters and the shop were both really good places to eat/ stock up.
Small suggestion - a couple of wine glasses and a corkscrew in the kitchen

My second stay, again feeling sorry that we couldn´t stay longer. The wonderful luxurious house with everything what one could need, nice swimming in the river, perfect place for a group of friends.
Extremely rude farmer where we were trying to get to Malgas by walk along the river. Don´t try it !

Breakfast wasn't included. But then again no coffee or tea and Milk wasn't provided for either. Nothing at all, so arrive knowing you are 100% left to your own devices.
The basics wouldve been appreciated. A few tea bags. Coffee. Sugar.
The focus was on selling us Firewood and charging R120.- to heat the outside tub.
