I can be a bit critical of hotels at times, but this one was flawless. The attention to detail was exceptional. For example, we were drinking a lot of water at the F1, the staff obviosuly noticed the bottles being used and doubled the stock for the next day during room service. Everything you could need, they have and before you ask for it.

Lovely hotel, good service. They did mistakenly say that breakfast was not included for my booking but in fact it was and they did honour this once I confirmed the details. The breakfast was nice but not at the level of the Hyatt or the Shangri-La/ Mandarin Oriental. The gym was big but lacked adequate air conditioning . The room and bathroom was lovely. Overall a very nice stay. KL has lots of great hotels and this is one of the better ones.

Given EQ’s reputation as one of KL’s top hotels, my expectations are naturally high. This stay was better than my previous one in terms of the room - lighting has improved, air-conditioning was excellent, and overall the room was comfortable with no issues. The gym remains top-notch, and the sauna and shower facilities are very good. Unfortunately, the spa did not match the price. Even with a discount, the massage was below average and not worth the premium. The biggest disappointment was breakfast buffet. The spread has reduced significantly, some food was cold and presentation was below the standard I would expect from EQ. More concerning was a hygiene incident at the buffet. I saw a guest use the spoon from a shared soy sauce bowl, put it in her mouth and return it to the bowl. A chef standing nearby acknowledged that he had seen it, but only acted after I raised it directly. Even then, only the spoon was replaced — not the contaminated bowl. For a hotel of EQ’s calibre, I would expect much stronger food-safety awareness and immediate action. We continue returning to EQ for sentimental reasons — we were married here, and this stay marked our 15th anniversary. Unfortunately, each visit leaves us feeling that the overall experience does not quite match the hotel’s reputation or price point. There are things EQ does very well, especially its rooms and fitness facilities, but for me, the overall experience still falls short of a true five-star stay.
