We mainly chose this accommodation for its convenient location, with a mall nearby and plenty of food options within walking distance. The price is fairly reasonable, and the staff were friendly and pleasant throughout our stay. Unfortunately, the room itself was disappointing and fell short of what we expected from an Ascott property. The overall design feels dark, dull, dated and depressing with an overwhelming use of dark wood finishes that makes the space feel rather gloomy and unwelcoming. It simply wasn’t a room we looked forward to coming back to after a long day out. A refurbishment feels long overdue and needed! We also had difficulty locating the car park entrance for Somerset, as the signage wasn’t obvious and could be confusing for first-time guests. The gym, despite its fairly generous size, was not particularly well-equipped, and the hot water in the shower was inconsistent during our stay. Overall, the convenient location, reasonable pricing and friendly staff are definite positives, but there is quite a bit of room for improvement, particularly when it comes to the rooms and facilities at Somerset DU
