Staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful :) I booked a cotrage but ended up in a room (I picked this option). Air con was fab, room was clean and tidy, and pool was lovely. I used it twice in my stay. Perfect for a night before my safari

I've traveled extensively around the world and stayed in all kinds of places, from 5 star to backpacker dorms, but this was definitely the worst hotel experience of my life and I would never wish it upon another person, which is why I am writing this review. Please understand that as a writer and critic, I usually like to recommend places that I like and have no incentive to trash any place. But my experience at this hotel leaves me no other choice than to warn people against booking here. Let me start with the positive, as I don't want to come off as a whiny complainer. The property itself is very nice with a main building featuring several premium rooms with balconies and then several deluxe cottages. I was originally meant to be in a cottage, but then when I arrived the manager told me that the cottages did not have wi-fi as advertised, so he graciously upgraded me to a premium room. This room was clean and pleasant with A/C, a fan, TV, wi-fi, and a clean bathroom. it also had a balcony spanning the whole room that looked out onto the pool and rest of the property. That's about all I can say for this hotel in the way of something positive. I was relaxing on said balcony after going on an afternoon safari at nearby Yala Nationa Park, which is the reason most people visit this area, and having a beer (the room does not have a fridge, but the manager kept it in the hotel kitchen fridge for me), when I saw a hand from the next room reach around and grip the wall between balconies. At first I thought it might have been a thief. Then I looked and I saw a man sit on the balcony railing of the next room and proceed to take a shit onto the overhang in front on the balcony. Needless to say, I was stunned. There are some things one cannot unsee and this was one of them. If that wasn' bad enough, he then reached down and scooped the shit with his hand, I guess attempting to clean it up, but left enough there that I could smell it. Aghast, I retreated into my room and then promptly called the manager to tell him what happend. I asked if he could move my room, as I did not want to be next door to this person, and he informed me that there were no other premium rooms available and that I would have to move to one of the cabins with no wi-fi. That didn't work for me, so I stayed in the room, now unable to go out on the balcony because of the smell. Later on, that same man who took a shit, tried to enter my room with his key, and I could see he was an old man, most probably with dementia. Certainly, this incident was not the hotel's fault, but they were not very accomodating as far as getting me a new room with wi-fi as I had already paid for. I had no choice but to suck it up and deal with it. The next morning I had to get up early for a morning safari. My jeep driver was picking me up at 5 am. I got up at 4;30 to take a shower, but the water pressure was negligable and there was no hot water. It was like taking a shower under a drippy faucet, so I couldn;t do it. I went downstairs to meet my driver only to find the hotel front door padlocked, trapping me inside. No one was around at the front desk and it was completely darl outside. I had to go back to my room and fetch a flashlight. Luckliy I had the managgers business card so I was able to call him from the front desk, but it took another 10 minutes for him to send someone to let me out. When I got outside, I found the front gate to the hotel also locked, so my driver wasn;t able to enter. He had been waiting for me for 15 minutes. The same boy wjo let me out of the hotel unlocked the front gate. When I returned to the hotel after an awesome time on the safari, it was aroound 10 am and hot and I felt like jumping in the pool. Unfortunately a motorcycle gang of about 25-30 youths had now taken over the hotel and they were also monopolziong the swimming pool.
