    Hotel was ok in terms of room size. It is traditional tatami style. Location and cleanliness also decent. However, I was not personally a fan of the interior. Quite dark, old—gave me an eerie feeling, esp at nighttime. Ofc keep in mind that this is subjective—the logistics—cleanliness, location, room size—was all up to par.

    To start, the location couldn’t be better for getting to experience “the Hells”, 5 of them are in close walking distance. You’re perfectly situated between the mountains and getting ocean views in some of the rooms. We chose one of the rooms with a private onsen and it was such a beautiful, clean, traditional Japanese room. We absolutely loved it and getting to use the onsen multiple times. The staff were all incredibly kind and helpful. We only know a few words in Japanese so we really appreciated how much they helped us and made us feel welcome despite the language barrier. We also did a dinner and breakfast and I highly recommend it. Both meals were something we’ll never forget. Each dish was so beautifully prepared and tasted great. We were more than full after each one but still wanted to try everything. Thank you again to all the staff who made our visit amazing!

    Good food, good baths and the morning view of Beppu was amazing with the sea on the horizon. The room was comfortable and it was a great ryokan experience. The hotel is quite busy and popular but the staff provided great hospitality.
