    You can tell this hotel was built decades ago, but that is part of its charm. And because it's part of the Odakyu system, the K bus from Hakone Yamoto station (last stop on the Romancecar train from Shinjuku) goes directly to it. If Hakone is in your plans, consider the Hotel de Yama!

    I had a wonderful stay at Hotel de Yama. The staff were all amazing. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get their names, but everyone I interacted with—from the concierge team to the Japanese restaurant staff—was very accommodating, warm, and lovely. The hotel itself is a little aged and could use some updating, but in a way, that also adds to its charm. The garden is beautiful and was one of the main reasons I booked my stay. I actually adjusted my schedule so I could spend more time lingering in the gardens, and I’m so glad I did. At the Japanese restaurant, I had dinner—the Hakone Garden course with a local sake flight—as well as breakfast. The food was great and felt like an authentic Japanese dining experience. I would love to stay here again. Thank you to the wonderful staff. You are appreciated.

    The property has old charm, including the rooms. Decent onSen facility. Book the French restaurant for breakfast and meals, we really enjoyed the breakfast there. Couldn’t manage to get reservation for dinner so ate at the Japanese restaurant which was a disappointment. Sushi was not fresh and everything tasted average; expected better standards given its local food.
