Capsule Hotel Kobe Sannomiya (Male Only)

It’s a typical Japanese capsule sauna hotel. Located in center of Sannomiya. Clean

I stayed here one summer and it was so good. Well maintained and the staff was actually accomodating. They dont have private shower so its nice to experience public bathing too. Overall, i end up spending more nights than i should have. Must try. Clean, decent, japanese.

Simply the worst hotel I’ve had in Japan. I travel a lot around Japan, staying in most cities and often using hotels cheaper than this one. First of all, the price displayed on the hotel window was cheaper than the one on Agoda. While waiting to check in, I even saw people booking rooms. I didn’t want to say anything because the hotel was busy and my booking was non-refundable. But the services for the price, even though it is cheap, are not good. The lockers smelled like cigarettes. Contrary to other capsule hotels, they don’t give you even cheap slippers, so my socks ended up completely black. The capsules are old, and the ventilation can only be turned on or off. I stayed there in August and was sweating all night. In other capsule hotels, you can control the ventilation in the capsule. One thing that was my fault for not checking beforehand is that they don’t have individual showers. There is only one floor of public baths and showers for two floors of capsules, so it gets crowded. Therefore, if seeing naked Japanese people doesn’t interest you, I would not advise you to book it. After check-out, they keep your bag until 3 PM, and after that there is a fee. I had no problem with this. The real reason that made me write this review, was the comment from a staff member after giving me back my bag. I was sitting in a corner of the empty lobby, putting my shoes back on, checking that nothing was missing from my bag and adding the things I had bought that morning. The guy came and told me that if I wasn’t staying, I needed to leave. I answered that I was checking my bag and putting my shoes on. He answered to me “Quickly please” He was standing behind me while I was doing it. There was no other guest in the lobby. So it was a great experience to have to check my bag outside, under 34°C, knowing that I had already overpaid for this hotel. No matter the cultural differences or whether this hotel has some unwritten Japanese only rules, I find it insane for hotel staff to tell a guest to leave quickly before they have even had time to check that nothing in missing in his bag or put their shoes back on. This hotel should simply not be on Agoda.
