I stayed there for 3 nights with my parents, my sister and my son to celebrate my mom's birthday. The rooms were nicely renovated, the hotel itself reminded me of a bygone British era. What stood out was the service. You could tell that people who worked there were genuinely focused on the guests. No plastic smiles, no formal gestures, just plain good old genuine warm service. Special recognition to front office Manager (Dimple?) and the waiter at the Verandah restaurant (Can't remember his name) who told us that he had spent 40 years at the same hotel and was retiring in July. WOW! That tells it all.

Please note that this is not a negative review nor a positive one. We went to Taj because of the name. But since the property is very old, it didn't hold the name Taj. It was just so and so. Room were older but comfortable. It's like paying too much for staying in a regular hotel. I will definitely not go here again due to the old vibes and high prices. Washroom was clean but small and old. Restaurant was okayish. But it's individual choice. People can decide themselves.
