Hotel du Sud Vieux Port

Perfectly placed for exploring the old port area of Marseille with plenty of cafes and restaurants to enjoy. A bit noisy at night (just make sure you have some earplugs!)

Si vous vous venez avec des valises très lourdes attention, il n'y a pas d'ascenseur avant d'arriver à la réception, donc vous avez à monter un grand escalier et il ne faut pas compter sur l'aide du personnel pour vous faire monter la valise 😁 L'hôtel est propre mais sachez que ce n'est pas climatisé. Les chambres doubles sont très très exiguës. Il y a à peine de l'espace pour faire 5pas , il n'y a pas de frigo dans la chambre non plus, à part, cela le personnel est. Souriant et l'emplacement est idéal

The staff is gentle

First, this is not an accessible hotel with 30 stairs to negotiate up to the first floor reception once inside the hotel entrance. There is a very small lift from reception to the remaining upper floors. Male receptionist on duty on day of check-in was exceptional in terms of customer care and efficiency. Bedroom was a twin room overlooking an internal courtyard and neighbouring buildings and was very small with limited storage space but bathroom was an OK size. Room was clean and tidy but only had one working electric socket and a desk fan was plugged into it as the room was hot as air con was just a very small ceiling vent which gave out a cool very soft 'breeze' and not adequate for the size of the room. A Tv was mounted on the wall but didn't work and a kettle , cups, coffee and teabags were provided but no mini fridge. The hotel staircase was narrow and carpeted and we used it on one occasion and I slipped on the surface of the last 2 stairs and fell onto one of the landings. It would be safer to remove the carpets and apply a non slip surface to each stair tread. The location was amazing less than 200 meters to the old port and a multitude of bars and restaurants and our room was very quiet at night. Overall I would recommend the hotel for a budget overnight stay at a good price.
