Hanting Hotel Shanghai Nanjing Dong Road Metro Station

the most outstanding feature of the hotel is the excellent location. exit 3 of line 2 nanjing east road subway station is right across. exit 2 is a few steps on the same side of the street (this exit has an elevator, convenient for when we had baggage upon arrival and departure). behind the hotel there are many local food shops. there is even a police station nearby. the comments i've read in other reviews about the front desk personnel having no name plates is true. the lady with glasses on the night shift (till 8am) was very kind and helpful. the lady without glasses on the morning shift was rather unprofessional (bullying her co-worker in front of guests. tsk tsk tsk!) as for the front desk itself, it is a narrow space in front of the elevator doors, nowhere to sit and wait for check in time, in case you're early. however there is free use of washing and drier machines. the front desk staff will very kindly transfer clothes from washer to drier, so no need to wait for the washing cycle to finish. later, i saw that off to the side of the front desk are 2 sort of ottoman seats which serves as the waiting area. the room itself is good and comfortable enough for 2 people. it did not feel crowded or cramped. there were enough sockets for charging gadgets. the tv had only local channels. daily bottles of water and tissues were replenished. but the housekeeping did not make up the beds. they only collected the garbage and changed the towels. toiletry items like toothbrush and toothpaste were not provided until we asked. the layout of the bathroom is good -- the sink is separate from the toilet and shower, so that one didnt have to wait for the other to get out of the bathroom to use the sink. water pressure is good. only paper cups are provided, no ceramic or plastic cups. it presented a problem when we wanted to brew a cup of tea. aircon is cold. i would stay here again if i ever came back to shanghai.
