Renjoy Courtyard Hotel Beijing Dongzhimen

My 2 kids (11, 9) and I stayed 8 nights here. Feels like home with many locals living all around us. A short 2-min walk away from Dongzhimen Inner Street, with lots of food options and where we easily hopped onto affordable private hire cars (Didi). Staff were warm, welcoming, and helped us wash and dry our laundry twice during our stay. Lovely courtyard where we had some meals and wound down in the evenings. Room is compact, very comfortable apart from slightly tight bathroom with no space to hang change of clothes (we managed to figure out a workaround). All in all, highly recommended!

Courtyard located near Guijie - "food street". we experienced difficulties in locating the hotel due to the address in the Amap. local driver unable to locate the exact location and numerous time we were lost in the back alley. suggest hotel to provide signage in the vicinity and response to text messages. thanks

The hotel was great! The staff friendly and helpful throughout the stay. The hotel is perfectly located in a Hutong near a metro station (with Airport Express train) and the ghost street.

I requested a non-smoking room as I’m Australian and my body is not accustomed to smoke. Even so, I was assigned a room that had a strong scent of third hand smoke. I decided to try and stick it out, but at 2am I woke up with a horribly sore throat, burning nostrils and eyes. At that point I asked to be moved, which I was temporarily moved to a better room. Although I already felt very ill at this point and didn’t sleep well. At 11am the next day, I was moved back to a room in the same spot as the original. The room had a no-smoking sign, but it was obvious that the smoke smell was just being covered up by air freshener. At that point, I could feel myself becoming more ill, and started to get a headache as well, so I decided to leave and find another accommodation. The refund process was long and tedious, and involving calling Agoda customer support. Agoda was not able to contact the hotel by phone. The staff informed me that the problem was probably that the air conditioning system is connected between rooms, and likely smoke was coming from other (I assume they meant) smoking rooms. Like that’s my problem? It took about 1.5 hours of struggling with Agoda and the hotel staff to get my remaining nights refunded, and caused me a lot of pain as my headache was getting worse. A room upgrade was offered but of course I didn’t want to risk making myself more ill so I left. I’ve had nothing but great experiences with Chinese accomodation up to this point. This was a very disappointing experience and has made me rethink travelling back to China in the future.
