    Stayed at Ascott Chongqing so was expecting the same great experience but come out a tad disappointed. Firstly, price-wise Ascott Beijing definitely below to the 5-star hotel category but the room, facilities provided and ambience overall fell short. Location wise it’s great to be so close to a mall and 5mins walk to the train station but other than that, the surroundings wasn’t near anything worth visiting , save for the Lama Temple. The sometimes 2 sometimes 5 front counter staff wasn’t exactly friendly or approachable either. They’re mostly reactive and kept to themselves. So are security, housekeeping and general cleaners. Hardly a greetings when they see you at all. The breakfast starts only at 7am and ends at 9am. IMO, a tad too late to open and too early to end. Overall, yes it’s a service apartment and 100% acts like one. No 5-star hotel feel. Their main selling point is definitely the large rooms that can accommodate a family of 4 like mine. Hotels are hard to accommodate this number.

    Good value for money for the good location and excellent facilities. Staff were also very helpful, especially the front desk which helped us order meituan food delivery which we couldn’t access on our own. Kids enjoyed the heated pool very much.

    Check in was severely delayed by more than 2hours and was not given a proper explaination on why the room was not ready. Staff gave reasons like plates were not clean and was thus unable to get the room ready, which does not reasonably explain the delay. We were made to wait without proactive updates, we had to ask for updates. Objectively the room was big and relatively clean but very outdated and furnishings show signs of severe wear and tear. Gym was small and not well equiped. Overall a bad experience.
