Carpenters Rest, Wighton Near Wells Next The Sea

Beautiful cosy little apartment, nice that it had it's own separate entrance and courtyard, within the pub garden... Super comfortable, well equipped with pretty much all that you'd need... Ideal location for exploring Wells and Holkham... Amazing bathroom and shower !

Shame that we were staying when the pub wasn't open, but we were aware of this before booking, and the plus side, it was super quiet ! We made use of one of the owners other establishments in Walsingham, which was top rate... Cleanliness - few cobwebs around and the fridge was a bit grimy around the door seal - fridge could use a deep clean... Shame that what I thought was filter coffee in the jar for the cafetiere was actually just instant - some ground coffee and a little pint of milk would be nice touches A maintenance note - the hot water was exceptionally hot, and when you're on the stairs, it sounds like the boiler is running 24/7 ? Might wanna double check, or turn the water temp down a bit and save yourself some energy :)

Lovely apartment and great location.

Such a gorgeous little property. Really quite private considering it was above a pub. You weren't really aware of that. Felt really cosy. Loved the decor. A real home from home (or rather what I'd like my home to be like!).

Our only problem was with the beds. As a family of 4, it meant we had to be creative with the sleeping arrangements as the kids didn't want to share. Probably a better property for 2 couples. Minor issue though! We were well aware of the logistics when we booked ;) so if that's the only thing to fault, then that shows the calibre of place that it is.

It is clear that someone has a good eye for interior decoration. The milieu downstairs is reflected upstairs, with good bathroom, comfortable bedrooms and well equipped kitchen.

The areas for attention we experienced: - not sure the cleaner had done a good job… crumbs and cobwebs in too many visible places (clearly an old building will always have its share of permanent residents, but they should not be quite so visible). - the lounge area… hmmm… main point is that the sofas do not look clean. - thanks for including the fans to try and cope with the heat… and for leaving windows open. Please be aware that whilst the fans clearly worked, they didn’t really produce any airflow… they had to be right next to the bed to be able to feel any impact. - tieing to the pub feedback, the approach to the Rest is excellently sign posted… but it feels like you are walking into a back yard technical area as you go past the empty flower troughs and find yourself in the very rough small courtyard getting the key from the holder on the wall. Positive first impression is killed. - and a last ’did you know?’… there wasn’t really any cold water due to the heat… turning to fully cold on any of the taps produced warm water… presumably there is a feed from a tank in the roof which has got hot…
