Additionally, Bonnie Prince Charlie established his headquarters in one of Brampton's old buildings. To the east of the town is a large motte that is 135 feet tall and features a statue of the 7th Earl of Carlisle. A few miles outside of Brampton, Talkin Tarn Country Park can be found. It encompasses 120 acres of farmland and forest, 65 of which comprise the Tarn, a 10,000-year-old glacial lake fed by underground springs.
