About this castle / palace rental
Authentic medieval mini castle with roaring log fires and all modern comforts. In beautiful countryside on the River Tweed. Ideal for exploring the Scottish Borders. Biking at Glentress 5 minutes; Edinburgh 45 minutes; Peebles nearby. Heavenly walks. If Barns Tower happens to be booked when you want to stay, we do have two other luxurious properties right next door at Barns Library (sleeps 4) and Barns Bothy (sleeps 2), both available through VRBO
The space
Enjoy staying in a cosy, romantic miniature castle with all the luxuries of the 21st century. There is a luxurious double bed on the top floor and a possible 2 extra single beds in the Sitting Room.
Guest access
Linen, towels, heating and firewood are included, as well as wifi and a selection of Highland Soap Company toiletries. It is possible to arrange a private visit to Neidpath Castle if you should wish.
Other things to note
The Tower is ancient with open fires and fairly steep stairs, so not very convenient for small children or those unable to walk.

I stayed in this beautiful tower for 5 nights over my birthday. I could not have wished for a better place to be - it was perfect. Peaceful and quiet - roaring fires- there is a wonderful gentle energy about the place. I felt right at home from the moment I arrived. The surroundings are gorgeous and there are lovely walks- we were lucky to get a gentle sprinkling of snow which was beautiful. The whole place is comfortable and easy to live in. Great shower/bath- lovely huge comfortable bed and super comfy sofa and armchairs and well equipt kitchen. 15mins to Peebles in the car for supplies. 50mins from Edinburgh. I have no negatives. I absolutely loved it. Thank you!

What an interesting and wonderful property. It was cozy and well equipped. The fireplaces really added to the authenticity.

This is our second stay at Barns Tower and our first Christmas. There’s no words to describe how fantastic it is, the history, location and furnishings, it’s just perfect.
The imperfections are the signs of its history, the lost stains above the fireplace, the marks on the limewash.
The only thing that is truly terrible about Barns Tower is leaving it to go home.

Was an experience. Great I must say with one exception the stairs but as we are over 70 expected. The whole experience was brilliant everything was there to enjoy full kitchen to good shower and excellent wifi a must these days overall a brilliant place
