The Space:

Wauhatchie Woodlands is a family-owned collection of quaint, tiny-home, rustic-comfort log cabins on a 14-acre wooded property surrounded by National Park land. This natural setting is nested less than a mile from the city with quick access to downtown Chattanooga, Ruby Falls, Lookout Mountain, and the surrounding area.

Lookout is our only single bed cabin, perfect for a weekend getaway or as a home base for your work trip to Chattanooga. Hi-speed internet and comfortable office space will ensure you are productive while you enjoy your private hot tub, furnished back deck, covered front porch with charcoal grill, and an incredibly memorable, charming space surrounded by nature.

Lookout Cabin sleeps 2 guests on a memory foam King bed in the sleeping loft. The cabin is equipped with a full kitchen, smart TV, leather recliners, and more.

Whether it’s a romantic getaway, staycation, or a work trip, Lookout Cabin is equipped with everything you could ever need to make the most of your time in Chattanooga.

Starting from the back, you’ll find the fully furnished deck, surrounded by decades-old trees, next to the deck awaits a space of pure relaxation, your personal hot tub with curtains for extra privacy.

The living room features a cozy reclining leather couch, 2 lounge chairs, and a smart TV. The kitchen is stocked with kitchen essentials including the all-important coffee maker. A small bar height counter for two provides dining space. In the back portion of the cabin is office space outfitted with a spacious desk and comfortable chair.

Up the stairs to the loft you'll find the memory foam king bed.

Sprout General Store recently opened on the Wauhatchie Woodlands grounds. Grab a coffee (fueled by Roasted Root Cafe) to start your morning, treat yourself to ice cream, pick up a map with activity ideas, and browse Timberroot merch and local goods—everything you need is within just steps of your cabin.

To make sure your stay at Wauhatchie Woodlands is perfect, our locally based Guest Services representatives are on-call from 8:00 am to 11:30 pm, seven days a week.

We are pleased to allow dogs at Lookout Cabin, under specific terms and conditions. See our house rules/notes for more information.

Chattanooga is a city known for its railroads. There are active train tracks that border the property to the north and I-24 is about half a mile away. Please note that light sleepers may be affected by the ambient city and train noise. Each cabin has been equipped with a white noise machine to help minimize any disturbance.

Guest Access:

You'll have your entire cabin to yourself, as well as a private deck & hot tub.

Your cabin is located within Wauhatchie Woodlands, a 14-acre property surrounded by National Forest. In addition to your cabin, you'll have access to trails throughout the grounds, as well as shared pavilions, community fire pits, and playground. Please be respectful of other guests during your stay.

The Neighborhood:

Wauhatchie Woodlands sits in Lookout Valley, a scenic pocket of Southeast Tennessee tucked between the Tennessee River and the base of Lookout Mountain. It’s close enough to Chattanooga to explore, yet far enough to feel like you've escaped the hustle and bustle of the city. Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center is nestled right at the base of the mountain with 12 miles of hiking trails and canoe rentals to paddle scenic Lookout Creek. Those trails connect directly up the mountain, where Rock City, Ruby Falls, Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park, and Raccoon Mountain Caverns round out the adventure. When you're ready for a bite or a night out, downtown Chattanooga is only minutes away.

Fall is a full season in Lookout Valley. September brings Ironman Chattanooga through downtown, five minutes away, and Rock City opens its Enchanted Pumpkin Patch up the mountain from September 18 through October 31. Mid-October through early November is peak leaf season here, with the valley's pastures and foothills making for an easy scenic drive. Downtown fills up too, with Wine Over Water at Renaissance Park on October 10, World of Bluegrass October 20–24, and Head of the Hooch at Ross's Landing the first weekend of November, one of the largest rowing regattas in the country. Wauhatchie Woodlands keeps you close to all of the autumn action.

Getting Around:

To make the most of your stay, we recommend a car to get around. Each of our tiny cabins can accommodate two cars in private driveways.

UBER and Lyft are available throughout the Chattanooga area, in addition to a number of local taxi services. Please note that availability may be extremely limited during peak times.

The city of Chattanooga offers reasonably priced parking on the street and in several public parking lots.

A free electric shuttle bus runs between the Chattanooga Choo Choo and the Tennessee Aquarium with stops at every block. The buses run every 15 minutes, Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 10 pm, Saturday from 9:30 am to 11 pm, and Sunday from 9:30 am to 8:30 pm. Bus schedules may vary, please consult the Chattanooga Area Regional Transit Authority website for the most up to date schedules.

Bike Chattanooga offers bike share rentals at 42 self-service kiosk locations all around downtown Chattanooga. With over 300 bicycles and 50 e-bikes this is a great way to explore the city. Visit Bike Chattanooga’s website to learn more.

We didn’t really do much because I was there for work. But, we did walk around and saw the animals at the end of the road. The only draw back if you hate noise, is the trains hardly ever stop running, even in the middle of the night. But, it did not bother us at all. The dog got up a few times wondering what it was though. Its very quaint and nice. We felt at home for sure. Would definitely stay here again.

Helpful and quick to respnd when I got lost! It is easy to miss the entrance so believe your gps when what looks like a pull off is actually the neighborhood entrance .Tub was eady to use and everything was clean and comfortable. Right at base of all attractions and so easy to get to the city that we knew our way back after only 2 days!

Loved the cabin, its amenities, & the location.
6 / 10Average·Nov 2025
The cabin itself was well equipped but the location was terrible - hard to figure out the streets plus literally right by train tracks which we heard all night … so no sleep. Not well lit to leave at night for finding your way back. Not a great place on the mountain in terms of any beauty or nice views. Wouldn’t go back again.
